Sentra = sleeper

This only applies to people with non-ricer looking Sentra's. But anyone notice that cops pay no attention to Sentra's. It's not like driving a Civic where every cop know a civic going 15 over is a punk kid. the only times i've ever been pulled over is at night when the cops can't see what my car is. i've zipped by cops much faster during the day, and the cop wouldn't give a second thought to it. on top of that, people underestimate my car all the time. you say Sentra people say what, or just crack a smile, until you crack their pos all over the pavement. God, I miss my car.

I have not noticed that. Perhaps it's because my car is red and has personalized plates and is therefore easily recognizable to the local police authorities (both Powell, the local village police, and Liberty Township, who's jursidicition covers my entire 2.5 mile drive to work) as the red Nissan with personalized plates who never does anything wrong on the road. It might also be because I follow the speed limit, don't change lanes abruptly and allow myself to blend in with traffic.

sentras in the wild look very boring.. i passed a radium pp the other day.. i must say that i would not look twice at it.. by no means are we pimping exoticm rides.. so sleeper is definately the best deffination for our cars..

"oh look at that four door family car coming up behind us"

"bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

god i love having my intake :D

EDit:::: btw spooky is awesome. add him to my sentra owners and their cats thread in off topic ;) ::::

You are definately right. Cops pay way less attention to me in my spec v than in my 300zx TT. Cops would pull me over for the stupdiest stuff in my Z but in my Spec V thy dont notice me.

Totally. And why I chose the 5-spd SE-R in blue w/ no wing. Yellow or red might have cancelled some of the sleeper advantage IMO. And adding the Pilot Sports make a perfect sleeper upgrade. I love the sleeper concept. My favourite sleeper legend was Paul Newman in the 70's shooting around So Cal in his VW-body-covered Porche. May not seem so odd with todays Turbo but back then the Beetle was like 45 Hp on a good wind day.

not to say its bad but.... my car looks like a gxe to the untrained eye... i really think cops under estimate the SE model.. as for the SPEC V some thing about that car screams race. maybe its the big wheels and large emblems..

If you drive a 996TT like an old lady you won't get pulled over either. Drive your age.

Have to agree with SR20dee. Screams. Wouldn't be your low springs, 215/45's, shiny bright 17 inch 5 spokes and wing all set to a juicy Vrooomy intake accompaniment? But hell, you WANTed something that looked serious didn't you? You've got it. Just buy the box of donuts to go with it. (To pass out to the nice policemen.)

Last time I got pulled over it was for speeding/window tint. Really it was for the tint since I was in the middle of traffic going 75. Anyways, the cop asked me all these questions about my car, is that aftermarket, etc. Afterwords he went back to his car, then within a couple of minutes he came back to me and asked, "do you have those lighted winshield washer lights" I said NO, he went back to his car and wrote me 2 warnings! :D

i hope it's not bad but my car to the untrained eye would look like a gxe when in actuality(?) it IS a GXE. but 5% all the way around and the front on the way never had any problems till a random dui stop and they got me for the tag cover.(the one that can't be picked up by cameras). ohh and the blackout is definetly a sleeper but i dont have the jurrasic park graphics. that might b why

since ive had my SE ive been pulled over once (knock on wood) thats becuase its hard to hide the fact your doing over 100 mph in a 50 mph zone..... even if it is a sentra..
Yep, exact same situation here... been pulled once, doing something in the area of 95 in a 45 (deserted open road, at night, had a fight with the g/f, bad mood... the fuzz-buster plus lightning reflexes saved my ***, as I must have had it hauled down before the instant-on could lock properly. Cop gave me the third degree for 10 minutes, then let me off with a warning. Never known one nice enough to not slam you for doubling the speed limit).

Of course I've been driving like a maniac for going on a decade with only one moving violation to my name (so far, knock on wood ALOT). It all comes down to not being a dumbass, knowing when to keep a low profile, and keeping a keen eye and a bird dog on the dash.

(And accepting that you will get pulled eventually, no matter what you do, and should suck it up and take it like a man, rather than trying to weasel out like so many people here seem to do)

Some places (Particularly around where I work) the cops see a young kid in a nice car, and they try to get you for anything.

Just the other day I had a cop on my *** for a good distance. I could see him in my rearview just staring wating for me to make a mistake. I just stayed two or three MPH und the speed limit, and drove like an old lady. After a while he just gave up and did a ueeeeee.

Now I have no mods on my car. I do have B15 Illusions stickers on my rear windows, but that's it. It just goes to show how police profile young kids.

I would say my car is a sleeper. Hell its all black and you can't see it at night lol. Its not fast just quick, which I'm happy with for now. Only time my car got me in trouble for being a sleeper was when a cop pulled me over and thought I was a drug dealer. I remind you, I AM NOT ,otherwise I woudln't be driving a sentra lol. Anyways he didn' find anything so he gave me a ticket for speeding instead , he said I was guilty of speeding b.c I had a radar detector. Not b.c I was actually speeding lol.

Sleeper theory sorta cancels itself out when you get it in sunburst

Well, the SR20's reliablitly while being stock sucks, but once you get into the nitty gritty, you should be able to hang with the big boys of the lightly tuned Supra clan. But for those of you who think you are getting away from cops....HA! You're idiots. It's just that they don't care...but if you keep tempting them to get you, they will.

hehe on the subject of sleepers..

This guy at my work comes up to me last week and asks "Hey man, was that you i saw coming in around noon?!"

I says "yea, i came in around noon.. I would have been in a silver sedan.. a sentra.."

And then he goes "ok, that was you.. I thought you drove something hot cause you're always talkin about cars and stuff.. i couldnt believe when i saw you in that grandpa car"

hehe I have a grandpa car! :)

yeah...everyone else is like it's a four door sentra...

but I go out to the races last night, and everyone is like man that car is sweet...175 horse right? so...it is nice to have a 4 door rocket
