You don't have to cut anything. Just bend the metal to make the hole larger. The metal is thin, and you don't need to make it much larger. I just used a set of pliers and carefully bent the metal. Worked like a charm. The grommet supplied in the kit will help keep the tube from getting scratched.

Just a note, you will probably want to manufacture a small bracket to secure the intake. Everyone has had problems with them squeeking as it moves up and down against the grommet. The powdercoat wore off mine right were it contacted the grommet. The bracket fixed that problem.
