you have quite a few options as far as internals, there are only a couple of complete turbo kits available like treadstone. normally when you change the cams, youll need something to control them with your afr. head over to b15u.com, there are many swapped and/or turbo people there with much more knowledge. you could also send a message to joe at 2jr and see what he has for you.

yea, the treadstone is a good starter kit from my understanding, otherwise you have to piece together everything, or you can upgrade to your tastes. i mean if you want internals, theres quite a few options, but you need to have a goal output.

Just finished doing research, looks like a lot of internals have to be changed, never realized how many problems QRs had...
Define "a lot of internals". Because the amount of building you'll need to do depends on the goal you wish to reach. I'd say the weakest link in our engines ('02-'06 at the least) would be the rods, but you can use the '07 ones which are attainable. The pistons are pretty turbo-friendly (9.5:1 compression ratio) so if you don't want to push beyond 300-350whp I'd stay with stock pistons, granted a good tune and 93 octane fuel. Set the goals you're aiming for, then build accordingly...

i havent ordered from them, but they do have the best complete turbo kit available. just remember, its not a high-boost kit, its just a bolt-on kit. its not to say you cant get a new manifold and bigger turbo, but if you dont have a goal output, you dont know where to start. i believe the treadstone bolt-on kit is already rated to 250whp, so like undertaker said, with some extra work you could be over 300whp. if you want like 500+whp, thats a totally different animal.

as for internals, aside from aftermarket, there's also parts you can use from other engines to match your goal output, parts from engines like sr20, qr20, frontier, etc.

I've daily driven my spec for over 3 years now. Stock motor, even still have the bsr in with not issues. Running off the 8.7 psi wg spring while tuned on a safc2. Ive probably put over 40k on the car now with no issues...

I believe Treadstone's kit is rated for 280ish whp running around 8 psi....which isn't bad for a bolt-on kit IMO. I haven't ordered one myself (would love to :D), but I think it wouldn't be too difficult to get 10-14 psi out of the kit...that is, if the injectors are 550cc/hr or larger. I know Turbonetics used 680cc/hr on their old Spec V turbo kits, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Treadstone Performance is using on theirs...

To put an example on how parts from other engines work, Ostar Motorsports currently has a Spec V running 743whp, and they're using a 2007 crankshaft and rods coupled to a set of 11:1 compression ratio pistons tuned on E85. So far that's the highest horsepower a stock displacement QR has done. They ran 11.27 @ 134mph not too long ago with about 100whp less than they currently have...
