Greetings B15,
I need your assistance in solving this issue.
I own 2004 Sentra 1.8s. Few months ago my SES light came on. I did the paddle dance and received code 1446.

I did more research and found out that the code is triggered when EVAP canister vent control valve stays closed, hence you will not be able to fuel up. But I have not encountered any issues in fueling. I am able to fuel up perfectly fine.

I have also replaced my gas cap and cleared the code but SES came on again.

I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars in fixing this.. Please let me know if you know how to resolve this issue. Any help would be appreciated! :)

have you tried cleaning or replacing the vent valve?

there is a write-up somewhere on how to clean the vent valve. if it's getting stuck you might want to find out why, its just a spring inside. otherwise, just get a new one. install is easy, and can be done by most people. unplug, unboltx2, insert new, rebolt, reconnect, done.

I have read that article but i thought it only applies if you are unable to fuel.

the vent valve is plastic, and has a sping with valve inside. i would try cleaning it out, if that fails, just get a new one.

when the spring gets old and from it going up and down all the time, hot weather, cold weather, etc. eventually, the spring could wedge itself or something until it moves again where it frees itself. it only affect fuel fill if it gets stuck in either open/close position, dont remember which, and doesnt free itself. if your getting a code from this, the ecu is telling you theres problem with it, it has electrical contact with ecu. otherwise you wouldve gotten a general evap code.
