This is a curious question regarding switching ECUs of different years. I have the opportunity to buy an 04 ECU with ABS/Theftlock (same as my car). Is there an advantage to running a newer ECU in my car? Something that Nissan tweaked between the years?

Thanks.

yes, there is an advantage to an 04 ecu over your 02-03 ecu as far as tuning capabilities. it opens up a whole new door to megasquirt, uprev, etc. which all are more compatible with the 04+ ecu.

however, there are parts that also need to be from the 04+ model, which includes maf, gauges, pedal, and a few more things that cant be just rewired, the voltages are different in these sensors.

your sig says you have 05 motor, did you have an 05 ecu already or did you just swap the motor itself? the 04 ecu is same as 05 ecu as far as tuneability.

The swap was just the motor, nothing else really. I'll see what else is available. I guess that 02 and 03 are the same then.
