Hey everyone, new to the Delray Beach area in south Florida.
Have a 2003 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V stock.
Have stock RF sound except for an alpine head unit. Just had the subwoofer go out. Wondering if there is a way to just have my 2 front speakers/tweeters and 2 rear speakers hooked up without the sub in?
Would appreciate any info.

welcome aboard!

please read the precat and butterfly faq, it applies to your vehicle, here:

as for your speakers, if you disconnect the sub or have sub failure the rest of the speakers will still work. however, if you have amp failure you may have different effects. currently i dont have a sub, just the 6 speakers using the headunit, but i rewired all my speakers.

fyi, all the speakers in the rf system are powered by the ampilifier, that include the sub. there are many different ways for you to setup your audio, most would depend on what you want, and what you want it to sound like.

amp location

is there a physical stock amp located somewhere in the car? again the sound system that i currently have is stock except for the head unit. I was under the impression the preamp was located inside the head unit?
much appreciated

resolved

looks like i found out what the issue was...got tired of not being able to do n e thing...so i just pulled the cd deck from my car....disassembled it...and on the back where the connections are (wiring harness/antenna connection/rca jacks) there were 2 heatsinks.....removed the heatsinks and noticed they were on TWO mosfetts that had burnt terminals. I would think this would cause more than an issue of the speakers alone not working since all the menu's in the head unit seemed to work fine. Even though i do recall more recently than not having random issues with some controls on the cd deck.
The cd deck i was using was
"Alpine™ CDE-9846"

once i replace the deck ill try to repost and hopefully that resolves the issue.

the rf system (premium sound package) come with an amp that's mounted under the rear deck, between the rear speakers. this amp powers all the speakers, looks like a large heat sink ;)

there is a wiring diagram in the fsm
