Hi all,
I have an 02 spec v. Lately I've noticed alot of rough idling. Also , when climbing hills, it would start sputtering. Auto Zone said it was throwing codes for bad crank. Pos. Sensor, bad cam. Pos. Sensor and random misfire. After replacing both sensors, problem still isn't fixed. So I figured I'd replace the spark plugs. One of the plugs, when I pulled it out, I noticed the bottom half of it was covered in fresh oil. Now its time to park it, as its becoming unsafe to drive, blowing huge amounts of blue smoke and dies everytime it tries to idle. Anyone else seen this?

sounds like youve fried the rings, did you still have the stock precat header? that would explain everything. its quite possible you may have a blown headgasket as well, is there oil in your coolant? or coolant in your oil? have you checked you battery terminals and grounds for tightness, or something else when it began rough idling? i have seen blown motors quite a few times, mostly due to precat failure/butterfly ingestion, or was a fi motor.

really the only way oil gets to the spark plug tip, is either down the spark plug tube and passing the threads. otherwise its probably going by the pistons because a ring fried or bad headgasket, or both. you have some work on your hands.
