Trying to figure out if it'd be better to do a rebuild or get a new motor all together. I've found rebuild kits for about 600 or so. Has anyone done it? I need some advice on what route I should go, helllllp please. I've never torn in to a engine before. But have common since which goes along way these days. And have a have a good buddy who has torn down and rebuilt before. Surely the 2 of us could figure it out. I guess the main question is with it brining that much oil would I need to get the heads machined? Lost puppy dog here. Lol.

it is always a good idea to shave the surfaces for a rebuild, most shops will rebuild your head as well, with new valve seals and stuff, so your motor will last a while after your rebuild. do you have the stock precat header? most likely if you are burining that much oil, you have fried rings, which means youll need to pull the bottom end apart to re-ring the pistons. that being said, you could look into information about 08+ headgasket and headbolts, along with some other additions, like a jwt bsr which will be easy if you already have the bottom end apart, maybe some solid motor mounts, wheel hop bushings, are a good idea as well during a rebuild. also there are a few reputable companies out there rebuilding qr25s, you can also drop in a nissan reman.

EDIT: dont forget a catless header if you dont already have one. also, make sure your butterflies are loctite while everything is apart
