Good Morning All :D

My name is Helen . . . . .yes I am a Girl

I recently became the proud owner of a 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE. I have a question or two about the Front Struts. On the front passenger side it appears that a Rubber Bushing? is gone and it is causing the strut to make alot of noise, it rattles since the bushing? is gone. I also would like to know has anyone here had the experience of replacing the front struts? If so how hard of a job is it? Also do I need to purchse the Rubber Bushing separately or do they come with the struts? Also I cannot seem to find Quick Struts for the front of my 2000 Sentra Gxe, is that because they are not made?
Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions.
Helen ;) :)

im not sure exactly which bushing youre talking about. normally the top strut mount makes noise when turning, but you can replace this with a strut mount kit when you change your struts. it is a fairly easy job, if youre a mechanic, not sure what shade tree means....? im not sure about 'quick struts', but there are other brands that do have front struts, like monroe, kyb, etc. you can also get a whole strut assembly, which includes struts/springs/top mounts as a complete package replacement.

EDIT: btw, welcome aboard!

Front Struts on 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE

Good Morning All!

Just an update on my earlier post regarding Front Struts.

BTW Thank you to i68k for your reply to my post.

Shade Tree Mech is just an old time saying for a Do It Yourself Mechanic. Guess I might be showing my age LOL.

After some investigation I found out that . . . the "rubberized bushing" is not available for purchase by itself. I purchased two front struts and two strut mounts and the tool to Compress the springs, total cost for all parts was $195.00. My Husband removed the old worn out struts and installed the new struts and mounts in about a hour and a half. My Husband said it was the easiest repair job he has done in a long time. I will be having the front end aligned tomorrow.

I purchased my 2000 Nissan last August, it was a one owner, 108,000 miles, new paint, new tires, really clean interior. I love it . . . . I get 35+ miles to the gallon on the road.

Thank you again i68k for your reply :)

glad to help

while youre down there, before your alignment, make sure you guys take a look at the other suspension components, like balljoint, tierods, control arm bushings, etc. this way you can replace them if needed before your alignment.
