I hate to say it, but my insurance company put the final nail in my coffin today. My rates are going up $100 per month. I have been unable to find a rate any better. I can't justify spending $300/mo. on car insurance in addition to a $314/mo car payment. It's too much money.

Because of this, I guess I will be looking to sell the car. I have to wait for the front bumper to be repainted, but after that I think it will be in paper. I am trying to pursue other insurance companies, but I am coming up empty handed.

I've put my Stillen Spoiler up for sale in the classifieds for a good price. It makes me sad to think that I won't have the little Sentra anymore, but I'd be going broke trying to keep it.

Sorry bout your car, but your right about that insurance. Mines only $1074 and im 18 with one speeding ticket for doing 70 in a 55. That company sucks.

i completely feel you man. my first new vehicle, a '93 hardbody was sold for the same reason. my insurance was $325/mo and i was 23 with a suspended license. (excessive speeding tickets, no DUI) look at it this way, you COULD get a classic ser and do it up. in 3 years when your license clears, get a new alty or se-r! there's always a bright side.

They can't seem to offer me an any explanation other than to say "rates in Colorado have gone up dramatically recently." No Sh*t!! This is beyond ridiculous.

I thought about doing the classic se-r thing, but I have to buy a car cash. I need to stay out of full coverage insurance. The Classic Se-r would probably not be a whole lot cheaper than my current Sentra.

Don't feel too bad. At least you are "willingly" giving up your car. Or knowingly I should say! I totalled my b15 because of a misplaced stopsign.

Wow Max...this is some bad news. I hope that everything in the end works out. I pay 604 dollars every six months through Geico. I have one accident that happened in December(remember that one?), and my rate went up 60 dollars for that 6 months. :(

I can't wait to get to California, and start to pay 30 dollars a month more. It's just plain stupid that these insurance companies are making a FORTUNE. Too bad we can't do much to stop it from getting impossible.

uh i can kinda feel for u guys because i (mommmy and daddy) pay 120$ a month for my auto insurance. BTW i am 16 1/2 and i have been driving for 6 months no tickets, accidents or nothing THANK GOD!!!

so if u think your rates are high just think people like me pay well over 100$ for insurance, its a good thing my car is a 98 or the insurance would be even more!!!

BTW-my dad loves to mention to me that it costs more to insure me than it does my mom, dad, and grandma COMBINED!!!

You have my sympathy. When I first bought my 92 Topaz, I paid $170 a month in insurance. My car payment was only $140! That was for a 77 HP, 3 speed automatic. I did have 2 tickets, one for following to closely (accident), and speeding (66 in 55). No more tickets since June 1996.

I now pay $430/6 months for full coverage through State Farm. I also have renter's insurance through them, and get a hefty discount because of it.

When I first had my license, it caused quite a pain for Dad. If I recall correctly, the insurer required I be placed on the most expensive car (96 Full Size Chevy Pickup @ $1000/6 months), and that he carry the 75 Corvette on a seperate policy.

I'm really, really, really sorry to hear that you might have to sell it :( ! But I have to say, your insurance is nuts!! I pay about $1400 a year, and I am 17, have full coverage on my Sentra, and am covered on a BMW and a brand-new Jetta, so you ought to be able to get better rates than that. Anyway, I really hope you get everything straightened out and you get to keep your Sentra!

WTF?!? Maxx, that sh*t totally sucks man! What insurance company are you with?? How's your driving record? And I thought MY rates were bad. I'm 22 with points up the *** on my record and a few recently dismissed warrants, paying like $998 a year on my SE. Insurance on my old Civic went for $997 a year! You're paying $300 a month to insure a SENTRA?!? That's some madness!

Dude, maybe it's time to move to Cali. Nah but seriously, keep tryin those insurance companies!!!

Maxximtl, it is sad to hear that you have to part with your B15.

Sure you had some tough times with it, but you sound like someone who actually read the owner's manual, and you contributed to this list with some great advice and questions.

I hope that like me, you will stay on and continue to be part of the "B15 family".

I pop onto this list from time to time even though I'm not going with a B15 [it's a long story...] b/c this is a good list and I hope to help out others like they've helped me.

Well, not to take away from Maxximtl's topic, but this is what I'm going to get:
http://www.2001el.com

and I wish that I could find my original post of "R U happy w/ your B15? What else would U get?" to let you see why but I can't find that posting anymore through the search feature.

The responses that I got from that missing post were interesting. The other car choices were mostly the Focus and Civic.

I appreciate you asking though. Thanx. :)
