Hey, all
I've wanted to change my M5 transmission fluid for a while and finally was able to get under the car today. Lo and behold, my filler plug is rounded (the 10mm hex). I won't even try the 14mm drain since I wouldn't be able to get any fluid back in (unless there's another way?).

What can you do about removing a stripped hex, and finding a replacement? Or changing transmission fluid another way...?

Thanks!
I'll upload a pic later if need be.

are we talking about a sentra, or a bmw? if you have bmw, void everything i typed :) whats m5, the gear oil, it sounds like automatic tranny fluid? both fill and drain should be same size hex. remember, automatic tranny uses tranny fluid, manual tranny uses gear oil, NOT regular tranny fluid. also, make sure your gear oil is GL-4, not GL-5, gl-5 is corrosive to the soft metals in the tranny.

unfortunately, its very difficult to fill the tranny using the drain bolt. you would need to find someone with a pressurized machine, as a pump itself wont work either, it will just drain back out. if you have a bmw, im not sure of your other options. more than likely, the fill bolt corroded in place, so i would pb blast the crap out of it, sometimes light tapping with a metal hammer helps loosen it up, you can also lightly torch it if needed, but i wouldnt make it turn red. you might be able to grab the outer edge of the fill bolt with like robogrip or bolt-removers. you can get another fill bolt at the dealership, possibly other auto parts store. make sure you use new washers regardless, theyre like copperish color washers. worse comes to worse, you can cut a slit or flat sides on your old fill bolt to grab it easier after you get a new fill bolt.
