valves have nothign to do with it. VTEC is a cam switchover point, it switches to more a more aggressive cam grind, but the 2 intake and 2 exhaust valves are ALWAYS being used on the 16v dohc vtec engines.

CVTC is nothing more than advancing or retarding of cam timing, no cam switchover, nothing.
