Hey!

My 2003 GXE Sentra starts like a charm when its cold (even if its -40 degrees outside) never plugged it or anything - 100% reliability.

Altrought, it has trouble starting when the engine is still hot (when it was just used).

For exemple, when I go to the gym, it takes 10-15 mins then the car sits in the parking lot for something like 1 hours 30 mins.

When I get back and I put the key in, all lights turn on (battery and alternator were just changed). Then I would hear the buzzing of the fuel pump relay and the engine turning (but not starting). This would go on for at least 10-15 seconds before the engine starts. Sometimes it feels like the delay is shorter when i hit the gas pedal (could be my mind playing tricks tho).

So... I'm confused about what can cause this. The fuel pump/relay cant be the issues because its always starting on a cold boot...? Could it be the fuel filter...?

Any idea of what i could do to find out whats causing the delay?

How long do you think I can go on with this before the engine dosnt start at all?

Thank you for reading/your input. Sorry for my bad english :D

it sounds like you have a common fuel pressure problem. the common fix is to add a check valve to the fuel like, or merely prime your fuel before starting the motor, which works 99% of the time for me, and have gone well over 200,000 miles with this problem.

in my case, which may be yours too, when the motor is turned off, the fuel returns back towards the fuel tank, but not using a return line. while the motor is hot/warm, there will be a small amount of pressure in the fuel lines, which makes that warm start difficult. once the car and lines cool, youll get a small vacuum inside, which makes cold start easier. like stated above, try priming your fuel and see how you make out, if priming works most of the time, you can just add the check valve and you should be fine. there are other recalls, and repair kits from nissan, most dont work for this particular problem, but do check your vin for recalls
