Hey guys,
I just got P0303. Are there any PIDs I can scan to help me determine how serious this is? My car seems to drive just fine. It's been VERY hot lately and I do need an oil change. (Been ~3-4k miles...oils getting kinda low). Also probably should change my spark plugs...I side gapped them during last install about 10k miles ago so maybe they're bad already?

I know I probably gave no useful information, but moreso looking for tips on what I can do to accurately diagnose the issue.

Thanks

well, youve identified your code p0303 is a cylinder 3 misfire.

the more info you give, the better it is for us to help, for instance i can tell you a couple things are wrong.

1-make sure your oil level is good, change your oil if necessary
2-you shouldnt be side-gapping your spark plugs unless you know the repercussions. you shouldnt re-gap any plugs you use in this motor.
3-your ecu got a 303, detecting a cylinder 3 mifire, that you never felt. if this happened on startup, you may not have felt it, but your coilpack may be failing on cylinder 3
4-swap the coilpack from cylinder 3 with one from another cylinder and clear your code. if your coilpack is bad, you will get a cylinder misfire on the new cylinder.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I will be changing the oil and spark plugs this weekend.

Are the cylinders sequentially ordered from left(passenger side) to right(driver side)? (left = 1, then 2, then 3, far right = 4) ? I swapped the coils of the 2 cylinders in the middle, hopefully those were the right ones. I cleared the ECU and will be waiting for an engine light.

OH yeah, maybe some more info that will help. When I start my car up, the idle is rough for a few seconds. There's a bit of a rumble. It clears up very quickly though and becomes smooth. I've had that for a while though I think.

considering you threw a cylinder misfire, and you produced the previous quote. you most likely have a coil pack thats failing. just remember, they have a similar life span, if those are your original, the other 3 maybe ready to fail as well.

yes, the cylinder order number starts at the timing cover. so the passenger side is cylinder 1 and the driver side is cylinder 4.
