Starting problem:
2001 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0 automatic

Car wouldn't start no crank, just the sound of fuel pump primeing and no crank, took to mechanic and started for him next day.
He check the battery and starter all came out good.

Last service we put in new battery. and a some sort of swtich because it was always getting stuck in park.

Now car will not start no crank, I hear fuel pump primeing, lights work but do not dim or go out when I try to start car.

My guses:
1.igiintion switch
2.Starter relay
3. Soleonid

Any way to test this items to rule out one or other? where is the starter relay?, firelwall,

Another problem we are have is the fan motor only works on high, i don't think this related at all.

Thanks

if it was the crank sensor, it would still crank, but wouldnt be able to time the motor. you need to make sure your motor is cranking and turning over before it can fire. sounds like somethng between the battery/starter, possibly even the ignition related if you can hear the fuel pump.

yes, your alarm could be wired with a kill switch and prevent start up, but does your alarm not work? do you have aftermarket alarm, or nats? next time it doesnt start, do what he ^^^^ said, tap it with a hammer while turning the key. just make sure youve checked the wiring as well, made sure its all clean and tight, with no fraying wires or something.

I have checked wires all look good, I also tried to move gear shifter between gears (automatic) to see if that was problem, it is not, but just wanted to know if gear selector is in D postion shouldn't car not move, the car will roll with selector in D postion and foot off brake.
thanks again
I am off to try to hit starter with hammer

not too familiar with automatic, but with automatic, you should be able to start the motor in both park and neutral. when in drive and motor is off, the car will roll back and forth, but not far. if its in neutral, it should roll continuously down a slope, until you brake, but you should also be able to start the motor. is it possible that maybe the shifter is not actually in park, or neutral, even though the indicator says drive, or neutral? since it wont let you start the motor while you are in gear. again, not too familiar with automatic, but it is possible that the shifter/cables/whatever needs adjustment.
