Holy! Me like the all wheel drive sunny. So if the sunny is the b15 platform and its all wheel drive, couldn't we convert the b15 sentrs over here to all wheel drive if we got the parts from Japan.? Now that would be tight.
anything is possible with the right $$ behind it :)

Don't know about the diesel codes, does it say on freshalloy?

As for QR25DE 'E' is for electronically controlled fuel injection (ie not carbs, what we have w/ injectors and such)

having a 'D' instead of that 'E' means direct INJECTION not direct ignition. The injector injects directly into the combustion chamber and not in the intake tract. In an old issue of SCC it explains it in more detail.

I stand corrected!

So what are the diesel designations ?

How is it that the QR25DE is designated as a Direct Ignition (but doesn't have the 2nd 'D' designation), but has a Multiport Injection (E) coding? Or is it different with the Neo engines?

ho man this thread is growin by the minute....as soon as i was going to page 3 there is now 4 pages....and when i was goin to 4 theres 5. i like our b15s the best.....i wouldnt have much dignity drivin a car called "sunny"

Quote- "That's because the new G20 -is- on the B15 platform."

This is incorrect. The G20 is the same as the Primera elsewhere in the world, and uses the "P" series chassis. Our last gen G20 was the P11, and the P10 before that, etc. The current Primera uses the 2nd gen SR20VE and is only available in Japan. The chassis, though similiar in some respects, are not compatible. If they were, I'd be doing a front suspension swap in a heartbeat. Also, the GTi-R is known as both a Sunny and a Pulsar, but it has a unique chassis different from both of those cars. In Japan, it is just a GTi-R, but grey vehicles overseas sometimes carry familiar names to help catagorize them. The chassis designation is NN14.

"So if the sunny is the b15 platform and its all wheel drive, couldn't we convert the b15 sentrs over here to all wheel drive if we got the parts from Japan.?"

People have tried with the GTi-R's AWD system into a B13 and B14 with no luck. The tranny will not fit. Since the chassis are the same in this case, I think there's a better chance.

Amen. I started this thread just for haha's. Didn't think that many people were interested nor have not seen the Sunny before.

Then of course there's the Australian cousin - the Pulsar - which comes in a hatchback version:

Looks somewhat like a Matrix...not bad looking actually....

The regular version is here:

Similar interiors and everything.....

The back end looks like the Infiniti I35. Actually, the front has a touch of I35 too. All in all, not a bad looking car.

I think it would be rather nifty to drop a Spec V 2.5 into that Pulsar hatchback. If they offered that hatch as a Sentra here in the US I'd probably be all over it....

It would seem to me to be possible, but there's alot of little things to consider, such as actual wheelbase, driveshaft lentgh, a tunnel for the drive shaft, custom drive axles, modified tranmission mounts, a place to put the third member, and getting the suspension straight would be an absolute nitemare.

Anything is possible. I've seen a front motored, rear wheel drive 1969 VW beetle with an oldsmobile 455 CI big block in it's front. Anything is possible, it's just a matter of time, ingenuity, and a fat bank roll.

It would help if the "Americanized" B15 has a japanese cousin with AWD on EXACTLY the same chassis. I don't know about that.

I know converting the MK 4 Golf Front Wheel to Four Motion is possible, but that's because they are almost exactly the same chassis.

Anyone know if the facts and figures match up? I gotta admit, an AWD Spec V is one hell of a turn on. that would REALLY make it damn near a baby Skyline, all you need then is a big F'in turbo.

Thats the same as the Middle East version of the Sunny that i posted earlier in this thread..pretty nice.

Damn.. and the aussie Pulsar is only about 20-24,000 fully loaded... and I believe the aussie dollar is about 80-85 cents canadian... so they are somewhat cheaper priced than in canada... then again it doesn't list taxes... I know the aussies are taxed UP the ***... but when I was down there in 98/99 a GMC surburban was selling for 65,000 and at that time, the Aussie and canadian dollar were almost equal... I think the same truck in canada was 40,000 or so...

I wonder if the Aussies get the japanese built cars, or if Nissan is building them in australia now??

Here are two modified Sunnys from over in the U.K. These are articles from MAX Power, a Brit tuning mag that favors massive body kits, insane paint, and big wheels. I guess if you have a bunch of cars with engines smaller than 2 liters, you do what you can. The first on here is a GTi-R AWD with the factory manual trans and the SR20 DET (That's SOOO sexy!!)

I'd love to see someone in the states put this running gear under a B15. Can you imagine the look on some WRX drivers face when he gets schooled by a GXE with all four wheels spinning off the line? Hehehehehehehehehehe!!!!!!!

The guys at Heavy Throttle/SRswap.com might be able to get the stuff for the swap, and might even be willing. I've never used thier service, but I've HEARD good things from guys at shows who got SR20s from them.

http://www.srswap.com/

Once again, just to clarify, the information on these websites and magazines is not MY information, as I have not SEEN any of this first hand. I have not ever SEEN a Sunny GTi-R, sorry to say, and I've never dealt with Heavy Throttle before. I've only heard good things. In other words: Do the research and don't always believe what you see in a forum, cept maybe this one. Hehehehe!

And IF you manage to pull this AWD conversion off, BY GOD PLEASE POST PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excerpt from SRSwap.com:

"Install into Sentra / 200SX SE-R / G20 is recommended for these AWD/FWD engines. The AWD trans does not fit in US cars and is usually NOT included. ECU, MAFS and wiring harness are also usually NOT included, you must use SR20DE ECU, MAFS, harness, trans, axles. Altima 2.4 liter and Sentra 1.6 liter chassis will need to find these 2 liter USDM parts to make this swap work. US ECU is sent to JWT for custom tuning. GTi-R swaps will need to rewire injector plugs to work with US 2 liter harness."

the picture of the navigation system on this link:

http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/navi.html

doesn't have a casing for the screen... does anyone know how that kit would fit into each of the cars listed at the bottom of the page? would it just fit in the bin? or are they just not showing everything?
Did you see the broken english used in the website below the pictures of the system? It's kinda funny

To answer some questions...

1)Why are there white people driving the Sunny on website pics?
2)Why are the Nissan engines so small?

White people are cool. Japanese youth loves America, American culture, American people. It sounds funny, but it's true.

There is a tax on any engine larger than 2 liters.
