I have a 2000 Sentra GXE, i have had it for about 6 months and I got a letter in the mail from my Nissan dealer saying they will buy back my car and let me get a new one at 3.9% the same as mine now and give me same payments or less and no payments or interest until june of next year, kinda sounds to good to be true but i would like the sportier model. Is it really worth the hassle to get the 2001 SE, i havent drove one yet and plan on it soon. Hopeing someone could give me some feedback, its so hard to find mods for the the GXE model. And the SE-R V spec isnt out until fall so i cant get it. I want more power and dont really wanna go to an Altima. Any comments would be appreciated.

I would go with the SE. If your looking for more power I think the Se would be the way to go. Before I bought mine I test drove the GXE and was not impressed but then I drove the SE and I was sold.

I'm guessing that you will take a loss on the GXE and then go pay sticker on the SE. Cars are a bad investment to begin with. I wouldn't add to it.

If they are willing to give you the payoff for the loan, then I'd consider it. Otherwise, no way.

Let's say to pay off the loan today, you'd need to pay $15000. Nissan is willing to buy back your GXE for $11000. That $4000 needs to come from somewhere. Usually they'll be sneaky and add it into your new loan. Then that $17000 car ends up costing $17000 + $4000 + interest = ~ $26000.

My Dad keeps asking me if I'm going to want the SE-R when it comes out, and I keep telling him only if I can trade my SE even up for an SE-R. He just laughs.

Personally I wouldnt DREAM of doing that !Its not a smart investment. You are going to have to come up with more money to put down. I have a GXE and would LOVE the new ALtima or the SE but its not smart since I just got this GXE in Jan I would owe more than what the car is worth at this point. Can you hold out for a couple of years ? Pay you car off, then get a new one. but dont trade you 6 month old car..YOU WILL LOOSE..

Remember DEALERS WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO MILK YOU FOR MORE MONEY AND HIGHER PAYMENTS !! DONT TAKE THE BAIT MAN. HAHAHAHHAH = )

Yah... if you're paying a lot more for it... do the math... it's probably not worth it.
But if it works out... I mean... If you win some extra money on lottery or casino... they why not... Definitely get the SE... I think it's a lot of difference in the way it drives and performce.. I plus you get the cool stuff like abs and 4 wheel disk brakes plus vicsious limited slip differential... something I depend on... and stuff like sunroof and big stereo are stuff that I really enjoy... personally I really like the SE... (if I can afford it... we'll see how the deal works out in June)... It's better than getting 1.6EL or 1.7EL or all the other similar cars... it is the best of its class for Jap cars (I still like Germans - VW)
But if it is a lot of difference...in price that is... nah... stick with your currnet car... it still good... :) JUST MY THOUGHT
