I installed a Megan header w/ the stock exhaust and the car is now too darn loud! Does anyone have any solutions? add a resonator??? Does anyone know of a good muffler shop in Lake County IL who could creatively and knowledgeable quiet all the popping and back pressure?

suburbanrobot,

I had a Megan 4-1 header. It sounded like crap. It didn't pass PA visual emissions inspection, so I gutted the stock header and put it back on. It sounds quite a bit better. Most people on here say to buy the longest resonator that will fit and have it welded into your exhaust. Good luck.

thanks JPK...

I got a new issue, the CEL is on and reading bank1 O2 sensor. I put the anti-fouler on the #2 sensor. Does the #1 sensor need a single anti-fouler? The #1 just seems so close to hot exhaust, I don't know how it doesn't fry.

Hey suburbanrobot,

Is the code for bank 1, sensor 1 or bank 1, sensor 2? For my 2006, sensor 1 is the A/F ratio sensor in the header and sensor 2 is the O2 sensor behind the header. Yours may be setup differently. What year is your car?

I have an 03'... it read "bank 1", so is that the #1 O2 sensor? I had no CEL before installing the header. Installed w/o the anti-fouler and the CEL came on (could not get it drilled in time)... so installed the anti-fouler Sat and the CEL amazingly said "bank 1", I would have thought it would have been for the 2nd O2 sensor. Going to try cleaning it next weekend.
so what does "bank 1" mean? somewhere different? The Advanced Auto guy was faaaaarrr from sure.

Did you reset the CEL after you installed the anti-fouler, and then it came back on?

On our cars, you have only 1 bank with 2 sensors. A V6 would have 2 banks, each with 2 sensors, because it has 2 exhaust headers. What is the exact CEL code?

assuming your talking about your 03 specv, which only has one bank of o2 sensors.

sensor 1 (green connector) is the sensor thats the the top of the header (no foulers)
sensor 2 (blue connector) is the lower sensor thats closer to the ground (needs 2 foulers)

with your header, you should foul out your lower o2 sensor, here's how
http://www.b15u.com/sentra-specific...oulers-remove-ses-light-o2-sensor-spacer.html

if your code was for sensor1, you should NOT have spacer or foulers on this top sensor. it may need to be replaced, use only denso or ntk / ngk o2 sensors, make sure it comes with a connector for easy install.

in regards to your othe thread, this would be a good reason you have bad mpg. with bad o2 sensor readings, the ecu will richen the afr for safety, causing worse mpg. once youve corrected your o2 sensor issues, you should clear your codes, either with a scanner or via pedal dance.
