Hey, I can tell you what it means in Greek :D

Not that they actually took the "sentra" from the Greek vocabulary, but Sentra in Greek means "long throw pass" used in soccer terms (aka the "real football in Europe :D )

Of course, there is no Sentra in Greece (What a silly name Sentra would be) or Europe, Heh.

I recently read something in Motor Trend about car companies making up names for cars...they included Maxima in one of their examples of names.

Maxima could be translated to Maximum, which in turn would be tied with Maximum Performance.

Altima could be translate to Ultimate, which could be again something like Ultimate Performance

Sentra, well sentra is in a class of its own. Just another made up word

Well if Altima is related to Ultimate
Sentra could be related to Center or Centered

Made up or no, I'm just glad it has a name and not an alphanumeric string a la Acura.
