Hello everyone, I just bought a 2003 Spec V. I needed something more reliable than my old 280zx, so this was it.

I'm having a problem with the stereo though. It is one of the Rockford ones with the sub/amp in the trunk, so that'll be fun.

The problem (in case anyone has any insight) can be outlined like this:
If I turn the volume up to the max, I can get a little bit of quiet audio from the front passenger pillar tweeter, but no other audio from anywhere. If I press buttons on the head unit to change settings, a beep does come through all the speakers though.

A prior owner had some kind of aftermarket head unit in the car, but removed it before selling it. The person I bought it from didn't know the story behind it though. I'd like to put an aftermarket head unit in it, and after reading: http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60237 I'm pretty sure I have the wiring portion of it figured out.

The question is whether it seems like a head unit problem, a wiring problem, or a speaker problem?

If I don't get a reply here within a few days I'll go ahead and cross post over to the audio section (if I'm allowed to post over there yet).

assuming youre using the oem/factory rf headunit,

the amp should be connected, somehow, if an audio signal is traveling from the headunit, to the tweeter, and it is thru the original wiring, then there must exist a connection between the tweeter ad head unit. its possible that either the headunit or amp is bad, or some of the wiring between the headunit and amp is crossed.

i would pull the headunit and examine the wiring for the headunit and possibly rewire everything. this is most likely the problem, but i wouldnt leave out a bad rf headunit or amp. but then again, youre not sure if the original wiring was modified, so it maybe easier to just rewire your own headunit/speakers.

EDIT: normally when modifying the rf system, the blue amp turnon wire gets seperated from the harness, make sure it is connected ;)
