IT'S JUST NOT FAIR!

A friend of mine has a civic hatch that he is going to make into a hybrid. He just purchased a canadian-spec b16a1 for $500! It came with intake manifold, wire harness, and other stuff that I didn't write down. It is just not fair that our exhaust costs more than a damn motor! I have a sentra but want civic aftermarket availability!!

most full exhaust systems cost $400-500. Look at the prices for full tanabe, hks, greddy exhaust kits for honda/acuras. Thats pretty average. Bsides for that price, your friend is prolly getting a jackd/phuckd up motor. You get what you pay for...

Well, I think you'll be pleased to find out that some Civic Exhausts cost as much as his Motor did!

I hear you though on the aftermarket. I'll tell you what...."outside" compacts have really started to take a bigger chunk out of the Civics aftermarket. With the crappy redesign of the current Civic, I think cars like the Sentra will benefit. The Si's are old news, so companies will have to find new markets to keep product sales up.

the Si is on a short hyatus. There is no way they are going to stop production, guaranteed!

Supposedly his motor has 30k on it, so shouldn't be too bad. I will update you when he finishes it.

SR20DE..Sorry Si guys.
Just to make you happy. I paid $600 for my Apex'i N1 cat back system for my 97 civic.
for 500 bucks you can buy maybe a 20 years old motor with 400k on it
Or it is HOT
if you were looking for an engine.... SR20Development.com has the turbo pulsar and GTiR engines. T2.8 turbo........ I would get it but costs to damn much

You can buy a Japanese-spec SR20DE (no emissions, 10:1 compression, about 150HP) from K Watanabe for less than $300. Of course, to do a full transplant, you would also have to buy tranny, wiring harness, blahblahblah, but the point is, engines can be had for cheap. Ever priced a Type R engine? Thousands of dollars. Despite the aftermarket, Nissans are still a better deal if you want a high-powered car, especially once you start talking about turbos.

hey J,
haven't there been alot of problems with se-r list members getting their engines from Watanabe? I was under the impression that those engines need a rebuild before you use them. Am i confusing watanabe with another engine importer? quite possible.

well, on the honda side, you can (if you have a 88-91 crx)obtain a JDM 160hp dohc SIr engine, tranny and ECU fir under 1200. not a bad jump from 105 stock horses. sometimes i wish i still had that little car. doh, did i just say that outloud?
