I caught the crash your Sentra plague...

So I'm going down a busy road in traffic cruising at like 20mph. I'm about 2 cars back and the car in front of me hits the brakes comes off of 'em then slams them hard. I slam on my brakes and slide my beautiful right into and under hers. This is the end to the worst week of me life. The cop gave me a "failure to maintain proper distance ticket" right off the bat. I'll have pics up momentarily. Luckily, only thing I see damaged is bumper and hood as well as the mounting brackets for the lights. That means my cat scratched up hood will be replaced and my stone chipped bumper replaced as well. I'm going to talk to the body shop into painting my Stillen spoilerette that I'm putting on order today! I can't believe my luck this week....

Fight the ticket in court, Fu*k those cops always a$$holes, u would think they would have some sympathy since u just wrecked your car, and u need the cash to fix it but nope they have to be the *** and give u the ticket, tell him you'll see him in court

Chip - You really don't have a clue how things work do you? He stated he slid into the person, if he had maintained the proper distance he wouldn't have wrecked and we wouldn't have found out just how foolish you are. I'll bet if someone hit your ride you would be telling the cop what tickets to write. He is more than welcome to fight the ticket in court, we get paid to be there. What kind of defense would you offer??? And by the sounds of it, he is going to get some work done that otherwise would com eout of his pocket. (fixing a stone-chipped, cat scratched hood and bumper)

the thing is, i had maintained proper distance in front of me to the next car. she was weaving in and out of traffic, cut me off and slammed on her brakes. i had no choice but to hit her.........i still got blamed tho, I'm the teenager in the situation.

cops suck.

Ok, now the story changed a little. There was nothing in your original post that said you were cut off. Now, unless there was a witness to say you were cut off, the cop didn't have much choice but to give you the ticket. And though there are good and bad everywhere, a general statement that 'cops suck' is irrational and untrue. Would you like me to make a blanket statement that 'teenage drivers suck'? Why not? I have the insurance data to back it up. But that is not true is it. The few bad ones cause all teenagers to have lousy insurance rates.

This is what I don't understand, why did the officer have no choice to give him a ticket? About 6 years ago, I wrecked my Mustang. I was at a stop which I thought was a 4 way stop, and I pulled out in a front of a truck that I believed to be coming to the stop. Now, clearly I was at fault, even though I thought I was acting safe. The officer at the scene didn't write me a ticket.
I spared everyone the details, because like it or not I was going to face the facts and deal with it. Some how I think you have a connection to a PD or are a member. Im 18 so technically I am an adult, and this is my first ticket/wreck in the 2 1/2 yrs I have been driving. A few bad cops make the people look down on them as well. So your relation is true in both cases.

The cop had a choice whether or not to give him the ticket. My roommie got into an accident and the person that hit him pulled out of a drive way and smacked his car. it was her fault, the cop was talking to us and asked "do you want me to give her a ticket?" and of course we said "NO!"

so some cops DO have a choice, its whether or not they want to make that choice.

There are many factors that can affect 'discretion'. A department's orders, circumstances around the accident which can include the amount of damage, injury, etc. There are a million things. The who reason I took issue strictly had to deal with a person's generalization about cops. Not all are bad, some are end of story. Do Not lump us all together. Just as I don't lump every kid with a lowered, loud, and at times illegal vehicle as a punk worthy of a ticket. There are just as many scary elderly drivers out there as teenagers. You respect me and I'll respect you. 'Nuf said.

This is true in my 12 years of driving I have had 40 times more close calls with the elderly than the teenagers.....and I have been in 3 accidents in my life and guess what they was all with elderly people.....
