I was just wondering does anyone have any idea how fast a 2001 sentra xe or gxe is with a 5 speed? I know the hp and the torque but I have no idea what the 0 to 60 or quarter mile time for one of these models is.

I'm new here. I bought a 2001 GXE on Saturday. Here are the specs on a 5 speed GXE from http://www.autobytel.com

Engine: 1.8L 4 Cylinder 126 hp Gas
Safety: Driver-Passenger airbags
Transmission: 5 speed Manual OD
Seats: 5
Drive: 2 Wheel Front
0 to 60 mph: 8.5 seconds

UMMMM WRONG. the GXE is quick. In fact, Mike Kojima drove one for a day or two and said the he had trouble deciding which was faster, the SE or the GXE. They are both pretty quick, with the SE taking the advantage in the top end! It's no slouch, don't underestimate it!

i drove the gxe, its a quick lil bugger. Lots of power down low but nothing up top. I am curious to see how it would respond to mods tho.

but make sure you get a 5 speed i think the automatic 1.8 is kinda slower!?!?!?!?

I just test drove an xe and it felt as fast has my friend's se. I'm thinking there pretty close anyways considering that the new 1.8 makes 129ftlbs of torque at like 2000rpms versus the 2.0 not making that kinda torque until around 4000. theres also like a 120lb weight difference between an xe and the loaded up se too. It really suprised me

My friend just bought one a couple of months ago, and it's quite peppy. I drove it around with her for a couple of days and it's got good torque, especially after driving a 99 Civic. It might be lacking in top end, I didn't get a chance to really wind it out (especially with no tach, and it's not my car), but overall it wasnt' bad at all.
