Hi

When I push the horn on steering wheel it doesn't work. It got weak sounded like a sick dog and then all of a sudden stopped sounding at all.

Ran a wire from the battery to the horn directly and it works that way.

Is the switch bad on the steering wheel and if so how do i fix it. I know the airbag is located there anddon't want it to go off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

check the voltages youre getting when you press the horn. it could be anything along the circuit, the switch, the wiring, the horn, or bad electrical connection. usually the switch on the steering doesnt go bad, it either works or it doesnt, but it sounds like the switch is working if the horn makes something of a noise. my guess would be wiring or connector to the horn, start at the horn and work your way into the cabin. the horn itself could be bad as well.

re horn not working

the horn only sounds if you run a direct wire from the battery to the horn and only when you connect the wire directly.

it doesn't sound or make any click at all if you press the two horn areas on the steering wheel with or without the wire mentioned above.

Anyone have any idea

thanks

The early model years had a problem with the horn wiring breaking. If you do a search in the Technical Discussion forum for horn, I'm sure you'll find more info and some suggestions. You might want to set your search for the oldest articles first; its a pretty old issue.
