Hope you can advice me on my car. it's a 2002 Sentra Se-r.
My codes are:
0447, 1490, 0340, 0031, 0037

My symptoms:
1. Car stalls after driving for 5 minutes than cannot start for another 2 minutes than can drive fine and after 10 more minutes.
2. Battery light is on. sometimes it's blinking. It started recently and my battery died after several days. Now I got a new battery to test but the same problem.
3. After I got a battery light, sometimes pressing a gas pedal doesn't change anything. I mean rpm doesn't go higher than 1500. I didn't drive it too much though. I know it happened at least twice.
4. Cannot read computer codes with reader. had to use diagnostic mode by pressing pedal for 10 seconds..
Do you have any suggestions on what it might be?

From what I found so far:
1. Replacing crankshaft sensor might help with stalling?
2. Do I also need to replace camshaft?
3. Alternator gone bad(that's why I see battery light, right?)?
4. need to replace oxygen sensors because of 0031 and 0037?

Any help and info is appreciated. And let me know if I can perform and how any of the fixes by myself if those are not too hard. (I don't have jack stands.)

Thanks.

it sounds like your saying, your battery died, then it fried your charging system.

get yourself a full charge or another new battery and replace the alternator and check all your grounding points under the hook (ie timing cover, chassis, etc). make sure your battery has good ground and the terminals are tight. once installed alternator and battery, check your battery voltage with motor on&off. once youve done this, do the pedal dance and clear all your codes, they are incorrect. all those sensors are voltage specific, which the readings were skewed from lack of voltage from the charging system (battery and alternator, or bad ground). however, without fixing this, you could potential fry the ecu if you lose too many grounds, as it will ground thru your coils and back to the ecu.

EDIT: you only need jack stand to take the belt off, so if you can fit under there, kudos
next time please search for this stuff using the search button in the menubar

i68k,
thank you for your explanation. Is there any article on how can I check all my grounding pointes and where to find them. and what should be the battery voltage with motor on/off?

the fsm has most of the information and technical specs you will need to fix everything on your vehicle. its a free download, however, youll have to search for it. you can sections here: http://allsentra.com/fsm/

grounding points are all over under the hood, youll need to just look for all of them and check them individually, make sure none are loose or have fallen off.

your battery voltage should be 12 volts motor off, and 14 volts motor on. this information is in the fsm, download it for free, it will help you greatly with your vehicle.

EDIT: carefully check the live wire on the alternator, under the red cap, make sure its tight. make sure you are careful with this wire if you have the positive battery terminal connected, you will get shocked, blinded, otherwise really hurt, and maybe cause some unintended welding or a fire if you are not careful with electrical components. you could disconnect the positive battery terminal before you touch the red cap on the alternator for safety.
