Geof,

Since you're asking this board, you probably expect the answer "Buy the Sentra SE P/P"

So, you know what to expect from us! :)

In 2 years, you'll get to drive that car! yay!

You should ask my mom to get a Sentra too for that matter... I think they're the best. Tell her this
1) best price
2) best value
3) together, that makes "biggest bang for the buck"
4) reliable
5) lots of safety features
6) Good power
7) Good dealerships (most anyway)

Find out all the articles on the net about Sentra SE like Road and Track, Edmunds.com.
There are some good links on this b15sentra.net (if they're not broken links) to support your statement. Present them with good facts, impress your mom, and you'll get what your want.

Good luck.

We also have a Nissan Pathfinder, Mitsubishi 3000GT SL and we don't drive it {Mitsu} in the winter so that's why my mom needs a car..I was looking at a few articles..especially the one in Sport Compact Car.. Eight Great Rides..that's cool..

Greetings all, I'm also a new member, so I thought I'd chime in here. Just got the 01 XE a month ago and we love it.

P.S. I did the window tinting myself (its my job)

Welcome to both of you!

Geof: You are one lucky man to be able to get a new car for your first ride! That's no fair!! As to which car, I would get the Sentra. I just don't trust American "quality" after my friend's incident with his Plymouth... but of course, I'm a little biased :) .

TintDude: How much on average does you shop charge for tint? And what level of tint is that on your ride? It looks really good and doesn't seem like it would be much of a cop magnet.

Well, first the transmission went out. Lost the overdrive gear. He took it to the dealer and they said it was damaged "from agressive driving or racing." This is a Plymouth minivan. Who races a minivan? So finally they replaced fourth gear, but it took them two months to do it. Then the exhaust fell off. Header and all. The dealership replaced that after a month of sitting on the lot. Then some part of the rear suspention broke. $1500 and 3 weeks later, he gets it back, and on the way home, the van overheats and damages something (I don't remember what) in the engine. He sold the van to a boneyard a week later and spent the money on a Honda.

Thanks Samo, at my shop we charge $99 for the rear doors and rear window, and another $60 for the front doors.

On my back window its 20%
on the rear doors its 35%
and on the fronts it 88%

I wish I had found this board before I bought the car, I would have at least gotten the SE, oh well...

Wow, that's not a bad price at all! I've been wanting a tint job for a while (maybe I'll get rid of my rice-o-rific windshield banner), and if it's that affordable, I might just have to go for it! Did you remove the funky dot matrix crap on the rear windows before tinting?

Na, just lightly sanded them. I got lucky and the film stuck to the dots well. Sometimes I need to use a secondary adhesive to get the dots to stick, especially with high performance films (they are very thick).

Cool! I'll have to make sure the shop that does my tint (whenever I get the cash to do it) sands those little dots.
