Ok, here is the rundown:

Thursday, put key in ignition, turn over... nothing happens. I can hear the fuel pump prime, but when the key turns over it doesn't even try to start the car. Find a loose battery connection, so I figure it's a dead battery, tighten the battery clamp, get a boost, and it starts right up. Drive home, put the battery on the charger to make sure it gets fully charged.

Friday: take the van to work instead.

Saturday: Try to start the car, it fires up, although a little hesitant.

Monday: Try to start the car first thing and it cranks and cranks but won't catch. So, figure the battery is toast. Take the van to work, go and get a new battery. Put in new battery. Turns over but doesn't catch a couple of times. Then goes into the 'doesn't even try to turn over' mode. So I figure the new battery must not be very well charged... put the boosters on it, but it still doesn't even try to start. Check battery voltage: 12.76 volts. Check ecm codes: none.

Anybody have any ideas!?!?

how many miles are on the car? If you have more than 100k you need a new starter. Give it a push start... Mine did that same thing years back and it turned out to be a dead starter

Ok, new starter went in tonight. Jumped in and it cranked... and cranked... and cranked... but seemed to want to catch more than the last time it did it's cranking. So, tried holding the throttle open and crank and crank and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! It's quite cold here and I'm thinking I must have flooded it earlier.

Shut it off and it started up again.

Real test is going to come tomorrow... sure hope the thing doesn't strand me!

Thanks everyone.

Also planning to replace the positive wire end on the battery. Mine is on tight, but it has seen better days.
