Hey, I'm new here. I found this site from doing a search on a gear oil for my Spec V & this site came out.

I'm from NYC, I have a red 2002 SE-R Spec V with 110K miles on it. It's pretty much stock. I think it's a fun car to drive. I love it. :D

welcome aboard!

please read the precat and butterfly faq, it applies to your vehicle here:
http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135241

for gear oil, you want to use ONLY gl-4, do not use gl-5. the stock gear oil weight is 75w-85, which is identical to redline's mt-85. there are a few other possible gear oils, but only mt-85 is the correct weight.

if youre in nyc, you should visit b15u.com, thats the general nyc b15 site, and you will find many locals on there, probably some neighbors too ;)

Thanks for the great info! :)

Yea, I did use the GL-4 gear oil. I purchased them from the Nissan dealer.

I'll definitely check out the B15U website that you mentioned. I never knew there are so many Spec V owners out there. I barely even seen the Spec V on the road :D

255K miles on your Spec V?? Wow! :eek::eek: That's amazing! :D

My fog lights suddenly went dead. The bulbs are fine. The fuse is fine too. I'm trying to figure out what else went wrong... :D

genuine nissan oem gear oil is great too!!!

most of the guys ive met in nyc are pushing boost or extra cylinders, so im not suprised you dont see them ;)

as for the fogs, theres a couple of relays in the fusebox near the headlight. are you using the fsm? make sure you download the fsm for free, it's around here somewhere for your year b15. it has troubleshooting and diag for almost everything in the vehicle.

I think I found the FSM here before. Pretty good info. I checked the relay & they were fine. Hmm... I'm not sure where else to check, I guess something wrong with the wiring?

I just saw the photo of your car... wow... it definitely don't like it has 255K miles... your car looks really good...

in the pic is probably only had about 200,000 miles, lol. thanks ;)

use the fsm to diag your fogs, there's a troubleshooting page just for them. i remember using it, checking voltages on wires while flip switches and pulling fuses etc. i mean, it could be the fog switch on the staulk, i used the fsm to diag, but i had a bad relay under the hood.

 Hmm... I'm not sure if I'm looking the same FSM as you but the one I'm looking at don't really have a troubleshooting page... I guess I'll search some more...

:D 200K? Looks more like 20K miles on that photo... :D

255K, any issue with the car? Well, other than the blown head gasket :)

planning on doing lower ball joints today. i think 257k is longer than average life, but i could be wrong. it's my first actual suspension repair.

as for my fogs, i rememberd this as a troubleshooting chart, it's not, but shows where power is going to get to your fogs, so follow each step, there's also a wiring and adjustment diagram in the fsm.

"FRONT FOG LAMP PFP:26150

Power is supplied at all times to front fog lamp relay terminal 5 through:
l 15A fuse (No. 43, located in the fuse and fusible link box.)
With the lighting switch in headlamp “ON” (2ND) position, “LOW BEAM” (B) position, power is supplied:
l through 15A fuse (No. 39, located in the fuse and fusible link box)
l to lighting switch terminal 5
l through terminal 7 of the lighting switch
l to front fog lamp relay terminal 1.
FOG LAMP OPERATION
