2003 Sentra 2.5LE automatic transmission with 80,000 miles

When I have the a/c on and the car is idle (traffic lights etc.). it makes a kind of grinding noise when the compressor is working. If I touch the accelerator or drive off it stops immediately. or as soon as I turn off the a/c, the noise stops. Anyone have this problem? Can anybody shed some light? Thanks.

sounds like you could have a bad pulley somewhere or loose belt. when the ac is on, it applies load to the belt which stresses all the pulleys, assuming youve already changed your belt to a goodyear gatorback. otherwise its possible you need to service your ac, or at least have it checked, do you see any green/oily stuff leaking from the ac lines?
