General Survey - Nissan Service Dept.

1553 Views 28 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  shavi
This is just a survey/question to people on the boards. I along with several other people I know have had terrible experiences with Nissan Service departments. If you want the entire stories lemme know but it comes down to inferior work/quality, rudeness, lack of the truth and whatever else you wanna throw in there. In particular I have had bad experiences at these places:

- Fireside Nissan, North Attleboro, MA
- Johnson Nissan, Kingston, NY

Please share any of your experiences and if you have had them at any NY or MA dealers please do tell so I can avoid them. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm surprised to see no one has had probs. I was hopin Sentra Stylin would have gone to my dealer since its sorta in the area but oh well. I also read in consumer reports Nissan had the worst service depts.

Well I have had some minor problems 1st of all I traded in a 98 Mazda Protege 33k miles excellent condition that was Jan 30th 2000
and I still receive statements showing a open and past due balance on the protege, turns out they didnt pay off trade in a timely manner I called Nissan Consumer Affairs and they cut a check today, Then I had the car in for service they didnt wash it like they said (minor) then I notice on my contract they added a THEFT REG FOR 160.00 I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT IS. (again I minor) I should have noticed this when I bought it but they wore me down and I didnt pay close attention. they also didnt give me a good deal on my trade and I had come out my pocket 1500 bucks with my trade.I wind up paying 14704.00 for a GXE with 4k miles already on it. But again thats more my fault for not doing my homework. Well thats my story..
Sycamore Chevy-Nissan Terre Haute, Indiana

they haven't really screwed me over...yet...but i do NOT care for their customer service. they make it seem like a burden for them every time i call to get my car worked on.
(FYI): going to try a different dealership in Bloomington.

Yeah I figured either you brought it in and really stuck it to them or you didn't at all judging by all your mods ;-)

Service department is full of idiots. I talked to the lead Service advisor about some minor problems I am having. He basically treated me like an idiot acting like I do not know anything about my own damnn car! I then went on to ask about aftermarket thoughts and he cut me off with "NO". He didn't even let me finish my sentence. He went on some schpeel about some lady added aftermarket brake pads and they were squeeking so they replaced them and charged her. I was like "big deal" brake pads I mean c'mon. Every one of the service guys I've talked to have given me ish about my exhaust (even though my CAI wasn't even on and I have no other mods. All in all its not a very enjoyable experience going there so I am going to a different dealership that is closer to my work. They are supposed to have the 2nd best tech shop in the company supposedly. We'll see.

Well, I don't have a sentra yet, but I have a frontier that I drive 100 miles to get serviced. In Tucson the service departments aren't the best, so I drive up to Tempe, AZ to Brown and Brown Nissan, where I bought my truck. They have one excellent service department. I haven't had any problems with them so far. They are pretty awesome. The fleet department and internet sales department are really good there. I'm not sure about the sales side, but every salesperson I have talked to there seemed pretty cool.

Hopefully I'll have a Sentra SE by June or July. I can't hold out for the SE-R unfortunately.

The local nissan store in exeter NH got bought out by, guess who, the honda barn, so I went there one day to ask some questions and they were like well we only have one nissan tech cause the others were laid off during the buy out and it's his day off today. I fixed the problem myself after that. The guys in the honda barn are stupid. One of my friends worked there changing tires, but he didn't tighten the lug nuts with the gun and when he was test driving the car, it was an isuzu rodeo, the tire came off and smashed another cars windshield down the road. He was nonetheless fired.

Not bad (even though I don't have a Nissan yet, but my buddy does... a Maxima Anniversary)
For the 2 times I been to that service department, it's pretty cool (not that we're friends with the service department manager has anything to do with it).
They're nice, informative, and they don't make it sound like "You ****ed it up, it's all your fault, see, look what you have done" attitude like Richmond Hill Honda (every time I bring my car there... I get this **** feeling)

Unionville Honda however, are the nicest Service department I've ever been to (Honda anyway, I've seen better with other cars like VW), they didn't have time to wash my car, so they gave me a ticket to the local car wash instead! They cleaned everything, kinda cool, great smiles, and no worries... it was also a $300CAN tune up... crazy.
One thing the forgot, is to reset my "tune up" light... now I gotta go back and get that reset... but it's far from my house.

Anyway... back to Nissan. Any Nissan dealers that carries Infiniti should (generally) have better service... besides, Nissan has the best service rated (not Consumer Reports... can't believe everything they say...)
Check out magazines like Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, Automobile, and many more, some mentioned their great service because of good trainning from the Infiniti division.

Again, I can't wait until I get my Nissan Sentra SE Sport (equivlent to P/P, but with more stuff) this June!

So far, bad. They never get the problems fixed, they take much longer than expected, they appear not to know very much about the product, parts take 2 to 4 months to arrive, oh and the few times I've let them touch my car, they break something else while they are at it. They clean the car for me.

I've diagnosed all my own issues. Most recently they were replacing the passenger air bag and somehow managed to kill the cruise control while they were in there.
