Is there a air relief valve in the coolant system? Coolant gets pushed out into the over flow, but doesn't get taken back. I flushed the system a few days ago, and when I check it after driving the coolant isn't topped off but the overflow gets fuller. The engine hasn't overheated, but I know the coolant level should stay topped. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Any time I drain the coolant from a vehicle I just fill the radiator and overflow tank and leave the rad cap off while the engine warms up and the thermostat opens. After that I top it off and put the cap on and haven't had any issues.

hopefully you filled up the radiator, an empty radiator wont pull fluid from the reservoir. im not sure how much fluid youre getting back, but ideally, as the coolant gets hot, it will expand, pushing more fluid into the reservoir. so your reservoir should be more full after driving than what it was when the motor was cold. also, dont forget and overfull reservoir will level itself when driving.

when your car is cold, check the level of the radiator and double check the 3 hoses for cracks, leakage, and tightness of clamps, hopefully its not leaking on you. reservoir2radiator, lower radiator2block, thermostat housing2upper radiator. also, double check your coolant plug on the block for leakage, and dont forget to check the bleeder on the thermostat housing.
