Yeah everyone cleans the outside of their car, but I was wondering what you can do to keep everything under the hood clean. I want to keep my car from corroding and all of the engine clean. And I dont want to use one of those damn spray things that people wash their car with. That only seems like if might hurt something under the hood. Well anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS

Don't be that afraid of those spray things..... they're ok.

Before I wash my car I usually touch up the engine bay with a rag and some Prolong "Armorall". Stuff is AWESOME

What I do is just cover the distributor and the spark plug holes with some plastic bags. Then with the engine cool, spray Simple Green all over the place. Let it soak in about 5-10 minutes and then take a regular hose and spray all over the place. The places where you have a lot of grease buildup, you can use an old toothbrush to help loosen the dirt....just make sure that you don't do it on a clean driveway cuz it'll leave stains on it.

If its new all you need do is use a couple of paper towels and have a spray bottle of distilled water. Spray two paper towels (bounty) and make then just damp. If you spend 15 minutes every week or two it will look brand new after years. I have a '94 Corsica and the engine looks like it came out of the factory last month. If it gets real dusty-use a dry paint brush on it first to get the dust away from the connectors and other hard to get stuff.

Very relevant question, thank you for this. Personally, I usually use steam cleaning, which does not damage the surface under the hood and effectively tackles clear oil and dirt stains. As an experienced user of steam cleaners for cleaning and car care, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with materials with reviews like https://www.fortador-usa.com/blog/do-not-buy-the-optima-steamer-before-reading before buying -this if you want to know optima steamer dmf price. the fact is that not all steam cleaners can cope with cleaning the exterior and hard-to-reach places. All in all, steam cleaning is the future of car cleaning.
