Ok, so my car won't start. When I turn the key, power is on and the car is trying to kick over but seems like its choking. I have power and ignition works. In the process of testing the fuel pump which seems to work and the relay seems to work also. I have no CEL. Any ideas would be helpful.

Trying to check the heat sensor on the fuel pump but not really sure how due to not know the wiring diagram. Everything seems to work beside fuel getting up.

define choking? and the process your using? i mean if it's choking, unclog the intake and you should be fine.

did you t your fuel and not see any fuel pressure? is that why youre messing with the fuel pump?

the wiring diagram is in the fsm, it's a free download around here somewhere.

have you replaced both cam & crank position sensors to newer metal type sensors yet? normally you check for fuel after you check for spark, but you said the car is trying to kick over, implies there is fuel and spark there, otherwise it wouldnt 'kick'. is the motor spinning and not firing? or its firing randomly/misfiring?

after messing with fuel pump and ruling that out, went back to the ignition end. Spark plugs were a little wet but thinking it was gas. also, the plugs were shot. Only 10k miles on them and the size of a pinhead. Got it to finally start and it runs normal, its very weird. Going to replace all plugs and now thinking maybe the coil packs are going bad. The other day the car was running crazy hot but i was able to control the temp. Got home I changed thermostat and then the next couple days the temp was fine before this happened. There was a couple drops of oil in the coolant res.I think its from when the car was running hot, not a head gasket issue.

Well, there is more oil in the coolant res then before. I changed the plugs and checking them since we got the car started. Its weird that the car starts right up. I was told if it was coolant on the plugs that stuff would take a while to dry up. Well, within mins the plugs were dry which gets me thinking it was just gas. Could it be the car ran very hot and thats the reason there is oil in the coolant now? I'm not sure. I was thinking of going out and getting one of the those head gasket stop stuff and also getting a compression test.

do not put that headgasket stop leak into your motor, def not if you intent on repairing it yourself, it will just make a mess.

if youre getting oil in coolant, you most likely have a bad headgasket. get yourself a compression test, then a leakdown test if you want to be sure.

from the sounds of it, you may not be actually overheating, you may just have air in your cooling system. wasnt your coolant level low? the air in the cooling system could be the air leaking out the headgasket past the sleeves. if your coolant temp was bouncing or changing fast, it wasnt overheating.

i would continuously check your oil and coolant levels.
