Hello,

I recently installed my Injen CAI. I have been looking into whether or not i would experience problems running my CAI in the winter. So far it seems not to be an issue with other vehicles so i was wondering if anyone runs their Sentra throughout the winter. I live in Thunder Bay Ontario so i can experience quite a bit of snow and slush.

Thanks

Thank you for the reply. I was looking for someone who runs their CAI through the winter to give insight. I know about the bypasses and hydrophobic filter covers. I don't want to use them as I want to keep the filter and piping as un restricted as possible. I can fabricate a shroud but I don't want to unless I have to

you really should use the bypasses and filter covers. you should be ok in the winter. just dont drive thru deep puddles. hopefully your air filter is somewhat covered from road debris, like sand and salt from wintery roads. no problems with -15 deg weather here, but i have just maf adapter, my filter isnt near the ground for the above reasons.

alright, so what i wanted to know is if anyone has driven a 02 SER Spec-v with a CAI in the winter without putting a filter bypass or hydrophobic filter cover. I am not going to, nor ever will spend money for either of them because it is silly and pointless. I know people running subarus have no issues because the inside of the fender is protected by a shroud. my SER spec-v also has a shroud, but it isn't the best, and is also damaged, so what i did was cut up an old bumper cover, screwed it into the bottom of my front cover, and voila. instant shroud. a foot and a half of snow, slush, ice and salt/calcium coated highways, no issues filter is as clean as the day i put it it.

you should be fine, as long as you dont submerge the filter in water (water bypass help). if you have a nicer filter, it should repel some water and debris (filter covers help). i do like the bottom cover you made there, it should help a lot.
