Hey, So I bought an ebay N1 muffler off the internet yesterday. I was just wondering that since my 1.8s is stock, when i put the muffler on, will it be really loud? Loud 2.5k RPM and under?

that depends, did you buy the axleback, or the catback, or a universal muffler? if you take out the stock resonators, it will be fairly loud.

Yeah, I just bought the universal muffler. If I tell the shop to just take off the stock muffler and put the N1 on while keeping the stock resonators, it should be fine?

Pretty much, I'm looking for that low grumble at idle, a more pronounced sound from idle to about 2.5-3k RPM but certainly not loud enough to attract the popo. Could you guys give me any input on this?

I don't mind loud over 3k. But just when Im cruising around town id like it to be definitely louder than stock but not a cop magnet.

In other words, if I happen to open up the engine on the highways im not worried about sound, but I generally never go over 3k RPM on city streets. SO that being said, how loud would it be?

with a universal it shouldnt be overly loud as long as you have the stock cats and resonator. dont forget, every universal muffler is different, usually the more straight thru the design is, the louder it is. i run almost straight pipes with one cat, very loud.

Hmm, well the universal muffler is pretty straight through. It's pretty much a circular canister, but I'll definitely be keeping my stock cat and resonator.

Fingers crossed, I'm getting it on Friday :)

Just got it on this morning, it sounds goooood!

At idle, around 700RPM it sounds close to stock but has that nice deep rumble to it. And from there to 3k RPM it isn't too loud, even with the silencer out. Overall, i'm very pleased with it
