LOL although that would definately be insane, I THINK it would inivolve some severe custom work/pods.
iirc 2k1 barely fit a set of 6.5 Koda comps in the doors, and he used like 2-3 layers of deading because he had too..

I like the idea of a set of kodas up front, and those in the rear deck. No sub.
On a good amp that would be interesting.
Are you really serious about trying that?

I fit the Vifa PL's which are 3.some odd inch
I doubt these would fit, not sure if they could run Infinite Baffle either.
May try it though. Some 2 in. spacers, cut the stock grill out and fit another grill on top. Probably would need another layer or 2 of deadning on the doors.

I am thinking about going with the Koda6's, did he make a post about them?

Nice. I liked the Vifa PL a lot when I put them in, but now I use them as a midbass only they just seem muddy and boomy (even RTA'ed flat). I am looking for a punchy clear midbass, hopefully the Koda's are that.

wow that is one sexy speaker, but there's no way it would fit in the doors unless you cut the hole much larger with a dremel and didn't mind your windows only being able to go down 2/3 of the way.

Talk about one hell of a midbass driver in the rear deck though, as long as it can play IB that is. It's not listed under the enclosures though which leads me to believe it can't. You could build some small boxes under them in the rear deck, but then you'd have to get rid of the trunk lid's torsion bars and still have to cut the holes bigger. Actually this looks like Adire's answer to the XXX, it would be a great speaker if you could use it in a car, otherwise it's destined for HT use.

I checked around.. they also have a 6.5 midbass driver... it's an interesting thing.

correction, they work very well IB

damnit, why do they keep making such badass little toys!

and the 6.5" midbass is the koda 6, the same midbass used in the koda 6.1 component system, the same component system that's sitting in my doors right now

yeah I e-mailed them and they said it would work IB. The room on the door panel where the round part is about 8.1 inches. And the biggest spacer you can use seems to be 1 in. Which would still leave about 2.75 inches into the door, so the window won't go down. But what the hell I can try it and if I can't get it to fit, I will just build some home speakers with them.
They would give me yummy midbass.

they won't work in the door, even if you could cut it out large enough, and even if you got a spacer, you still have the door panel. The door panel barely clears a 6.5" driver with a 1" spacer because it curves in right outside the edge of the speaker, there's no way it would fit over an 8. And there's no turning back, because once you cut the hole larger you're screwed. You could build a huge spacer that went all the way out and mounted to the door panel over your 8" hole, but then the door panel wouldn't be able to go back over the spacer. Really a PITA, but the rear deck is a possibility.

couldnt you build a wedge shaped box or something similar and top mount the box on the rear deck and put the 8's in that way?

sure, might look like *** though, I guess it depends on how you did it

Or get like 4 of them, stick them in a 2cf 32hz ported box and send them ~500rms at 1 or 4ohm. That would kick ***, $320 in subs, with XBL^2 and more total displacement and a higher efficiency than a brahma 10. It would be a fun little project, and if you ever got tired of them you could stick them in some towers and use them as HT speakers. But I'll stick with the brahma 15 personally

I could build small boxes for the floor in front of the seat or cut the door panel and fiberglass. I really don't want them in the rear, that is for the sub, I would just go with the Koda 6 then. If I can find a wrecked 2002 Spec V I might buy the door panels and go for it.
