i know it sounds unimportant, but i'm geting ready to order snow tires and am sure that unless i know how to say it correctly, i'll say it differently to each shop that gives me a quote.

actually, it's ggeum-ho... it's actually a korean word. go figure.. it's a korean tire company . it means... gold... something. haha.. my korean is pretty bad. but no one in America pronounces hyundai correctly, and no one seems to complain. so yeah, basically it doesn't matter.

That's a good choice. Best bang for buck winter tire around.

I thought it meant rubber. Gee isn't that so straight forward. HAve you heard of Hankook tires? That means "korean" tires ahahha. Anyways we make better tires than cars. And just to show my KOrean PRide. Samsung, Goldstar, LG, Daewoo, KIA, and Hyundai is KOrean not JApanese. If you're wondering why KOrean cars suck, I don't know why, but we're the only other Asian country that make cars besides Japan.

I've heard people pronounce Hyundai "Hyoon-die." I tend to say "Hun-die"

Why?

Because all the car companies in korea, Ssangyong, Daewoo, Samsung, Kia, Hyundai were conglomerates focusing on expansion rather than quality. Now with the conglomerates disintegrated and all the sub-companies spunoff, they can now focus on core competencies. The era of chaebols are history.

Samsung = electronics
Hyundai = autombiles + shipbuilding + construction
Daewoo = shipbuilding + automobiles
Ssangyong = taken over by Daewoo
Kia = autobiles.

Hyundai, I am told, means "modern."

Also, don't make the "y" too hard.

Instead of "Hyun-die" I've been told to pronounce it more like "Hun-day."

I may be wrong.
