remove balance shaft (free), aem cai (~200), hotshot headers (no idea, ~450), stromung catback (~550), grounded knock sensor (free). I would wait on all of these mods until your car is broken in though, I know they fixed a lot with the 03 models, but the oil burning problem could still be an issue. If you have any mods they could potentially blame the probs on them.

It's something you should do if you have several mods and a removed balance shaft, but it only applies to the spec. I'm not sure about all this, its just what I've picked up from reading the boards.

I don't even think you could get 12hp out of an exhaust system on the spec if you already had intake and headers, its just not possible

dynoed my car with aem cai & blitz exhaust w/2.25 inch piping made 150.5whp 165tq

thats about the same as aem's car did with only the intake.
i took my exhaust off cus of a ticket i got.
exhaust on a spec v is one noisy mudda trucka!
exhaust........not worth it!
im now waiting for a greddy or Hks unit to come out. stromung to me just looks booty and it costs too much for what you get. til then i will stick with my stock exhaust with the little flap that opens up at high rpm...lol...... i painted the muffler black, looks alot better now.

I reccomend you just put an CAI intake on the bitch, tint the windows, and add a system to it.

Sit and and chill and see what the aftermarket brings us.

Nissan2k2Spec-V, you're right about the stromung. the exhaust + resonator + installation + tax = 750 bucks.

I cant justify spending that on a part that hasnt been show to add much performance at all. I'm waiting to see what the final #'s are gonna be for the AEBS header though.. that looks really promising.

SE-R-acer

my suggestion is let the car break in, don't mod it for 2k miles, drive it like a baby after 1k be a little more liberal with it, look at all the oil issues with the 2k2, the 2k3 will still have some of the same problems, different gearing, i'm getting rid of my 2k2 for a 2k3 we'll see whats up, but i'll test drive it before hand to see which is faster...

My spec just started burning oil and I have 10k on the engine. The only thing I can think of that is causing this is the fact that I've hit the rev limiter a coupel times in my car. Would that cause the car to start burning oil, I remember hearing something about how hitting the rev limiter casues the cat to break apart and destroy the engine, I hope this isn't what happened!

Just do the AEM CAI

Wait to see what else comes out, parts are not only coming out left and right, but better quality as well. The AEM intake will give you a great increase. Break your car in first, thats just known.

This is MY recommendation. DO NOTHING!!!

This is what I am doing (so my wife does not rip me another A-hole). Just run the car and break her in. If you want, tint the windows. Slowly play with the stereo, but don't rush it. There is always another, better product that will come out. These are fun cars in the stock form. So let the warrenty run out before you start to modify. Get used to the way she runs and drives, so you can handle the additional modifications without losing control or getting reckless.

My situation to this point in my life is a long story, so until my car his 100,000 miles, this is my list of things I will do to my Spec V:

Nismo or 300Z Radiator Cap
Nismo Oil Cap
Nismo Gas Cap
Nismo Liscense Plate Frames
Tinted Windows
Cellular Phone holders (Recarro from Nopi)
Cargo Net
TV Screen and DVD Player (maybe a X-box or PS2)
5-point Harness with proper mounting points
Stylish Fire Extinguisher
Stereo (Most of the equiptment I have already stockpiled for a previous car)

Good luck
Jason
