Question vrs with resonator or not?

I am getting the 2.25" stainless VRS exhaust piping within the next week. Now, unlike alot of people on the board, I WANT a loud exhaust. Right now I just have my magnaflow muffler welded on the stock piping......barely hear it. If I slap this piping on without a resonator, what can I expect? Yes, I want loud exhaust, but no I dont want buzziness, ya know? I just have a bad feeling that if I put a resonator or glasspack on, it will be too quiet for my liking. I for one, dont mind hearing the exhaust in the cabin or on the highway. What to do fellas? Help me out please.

You can expect horrible accoustic results if you use a Magnaflow muffler with no resonator. They're not designed to operate without one. Going to a larger diameter pipe by itself will increase your exhaust noise by itself, so you'll get louder. The resonator is mostly there to control tone, not so much volume. The Magnaflow is primarily to control volume, not tone.

If you want to try, go ahead and get the pipes W/O resonator from VRS. You can always have a local muffler shop weld in a $20 resonator if you don't like the sound.

I currently have the VRS with the resonator. It is loud enough to where it is not annoying. I would not want to go any louder. The VRS with resonator is about as loud as the CAI from inside the car. I highly recommend getting the resonator. I won't buy a catback without one.

geez i have a 2.5 inch too with a magnaflow and its slowly becoming unbearable. Stuff is rattling in my car cuz its got such a bassy tone. Ive got the Vrs pipe kit sitting in my room (also 2.5) w/o a resonator. Im selling my stock tomorrow and ordering the hotshot header. Then i will install and see how loud it gets just for fun. Im pretty sure it will make babies cry. I already set off every car alarm i drive by now. When i do put the VRS on im definitely getting a resonator. Also im gettting rid of the magnaflow, for this HKS muffler i saw. I really wanted to stick with the dual tips but i cant really find one i like.

You are like me, my exhuast is too damn loud also. I have 2.25" piping with some Brospeed Crap muffler and boy is it loud without the resonator. I can hear it in the cabin really well and I don't even have my cai yet. If you want loud don't get the resonator unless its too loud like everyone else said.

i'm using a magnaflow with my stock piping and the tone is so low-pitched i can see my entire side mirror and its housing vibrating if i give it a little gas
the garnish for the climate control vibrates also when i'm holding it around 2000 rpm
hehe

I have the setup you are talking about...

I have a 2 1/4 stainless VRS on my Spec-V without resinator. In my opinion it is hardly loud at all. I used to have a 90 Prelude with a thermal exhaust and that was loud.. With the current setup, the best description is that it is noticable, but by no means unbearable. It is very deep and can be kept quiet by shifting strategically.

Kyle.

Hi guys!

Greg from BRM here... Feel free to email me at greg@brmusa.com (or call at 602-828-8908) for pricing and applications.

I concur with the need for a resonator on just about all Sentra / Spec-V systems, It just sounds so much better...
