Cool New Member! Bringing a 02 GXE and many years of knowledge to the table.

Greetings all!

First of all, I'm new to the forum but not new to the automotive forum world. I currently run 2 vehicles; 2004 Nissan Murano SL AWD (124K) and a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE (164K). I've been working on vehicles since I can remember and do almost everything myself in my garage.

We've had the Sentra since it was brand new. All it's needed, before we gave it to the kids , was a new water pump, head gasket, thermostat, radiator/hoses, water temp sensor, and a gauge cluster. The kids took it from us with about 108K on it, and we got it back with about 164K.

Now I've noticed the following:
• Oil pan seal leak
• Power steering leak
• Read/erased a P0755 code (Transmission Solenoid B)
• Air selector doesn’t work, air stays on forward vents only
• Don’t know if the air recirculation system is working or not
• Have a creak/grind in the rear right area
• Steering wheel is peeling
• Missing shift lock cap
• Tint is scratched
• Rear driver side bumper is off of the body clip
• Paint is oxidized
• Gas fill door opens/shuts rather rough
• Hub caps are turned/scraped
• Missing valve stem caps
• Inside is disgusting

Needless to say, for some of this stuff, I'll be asking some questions. I have the service manual so hopefully I can get some insight there.

Long first post, but at least you know what I come with. Looking forward to doing some mingling!

welcome aboard!

youre welcome to ask away. next time require the kids for a hefty deposit before giving it to them, they sound very irresponsible!!!

Well, I've seen worse. I think they took the car for granted. Now that they have their own, and their own car payments, maybe they'll take better care of their newer/used car. Of course, I doubt it given the shape the 02 Sentra was in.

We took the weekend to completely detail clean it and it's sparkly again! Still have some work to do but time will take care of it.

I have a date with a 2001 GXE on Friday afternoon. It's at a You Pull & Pay yard on the south end of town. I'll pull as much stuff I can off of it to make mine better. We'll see how it goes. My main concern at this point is the climate control mode switch. Only blows forward and not at the windshield or on my feet.

The tranny hasn't failed since I got it. The leaks are minor but still of concern. Will fix those later on. I posted a thread asking about the climate control system. Hopefully someone knows about the anatomy of that system.
