2003 Nissan Sentra QR25DE engine options

I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra Spec V. The head gasket blew and water got in the cylinders. Before I could work on it the cylinders seized up (my ignorance).

I have tried many ways but cant get the motor unjammed. I will most likely need to replace the motor.

I have searched and found many QR25DE engines but have noticed the older ones 2002-2006 are noticably more expensive than the newer ones. Is it possible to install a newer one? What all is different?

Also are all of the older ones a direct replacement? I essentially just need the engine and head as everything else is in working condition.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

youd need a qr25 from the 2002-2006 sentra, or similar years altima qr25 is the same. if you need the electronics/sensors/wiring, you would be looking for a 2002-2003 sentra or altima, because all the wiring and connectors are the same.

to use a 2007+ qr25de you would need to custom fabricate, or find some other way to mount the motor, as the 2007+ are designed differently, the motor is offset under the hood so its in a different place. not to mention all the wiring and electronics are different, so lots of rewiring would be needed. for all this work, you might as well just get yourself a vq35 swap.
