Rear Wheel Hub
Hey,
So the rear of my car makes a ton of noise, its likely the bearing and I think I need to fix it as on the highway i cant even hear in the car. I think its the right rear. What is a good place to get a rear wheel hub with the bearing? I called a local pep-boys and they want close to $100. Has anyone gotten one cheaper and knows a reliable OEM manufacturer? Thanks! I have a 04' with no ABS and rear drums..... |

So here's the deal..... I got new hubs but getting the right side drum off was a PITA. The shoes were too far out and I wasnt able to adjust them inward through the hole in the back. Once i got it open there it nothing for the screw driver to adjust, weird.
Getting the drum off was difficult, and caused some damage. Inspecting the hub it spins free, not grinding, feels tight. I dont think thats it. When you put the drum on and spin it there is friction. I ground off some rust and it helped but not 100%. Now the left side.... Spinning the wheel you feel friction but im afraid that i will run into the same problems getting the drums off. Plus when it comes to change the studs out i know i dont have the proper tool but a C clamp and socket should do it. Im torn between trying this all myself again tomorrow or bowing out and going to the mechanic to prevent problems. |
