2000 gxe bouncy idle please help
I recently bought my 2000 gxe 1.8 automatic. initially the car would barely run so i replaced the maf and it was running great for about a week until the idle would bottom out at a stop. I had it scanned and was told it was the idle air control valve. I replaced that and now the idle bounces between 1000 and 2000 rpm. I have found many posts about the idle relearn but am unsure if that is just for the spec v or all sentras. Mine has a cable for the throttle. I tried the relearn yesterday with no luck and i am hoping someone here can help me. i used a stopwatch and checked all the preconditioning requirements which were fine. Do i have to have the doors closed when doing this? Do i keep the car running while i disconnect the brown connector? i did it with the engine running. Any advice would be great as this is our only vehicle. Thanks

Yeah the idle relearn won't work on cable driven throttle bodies IIRC.
As for your problem, did you modify/change anything other than the maf sensor? I think a vacuum leak would cause a bouncy idle too. |
