Here it is! Finished VQ35DE install kit!

VQ35DE Swap kit (2002-up Spec V/SE-R)

Water-Jet cut/TIG welded 321 Stainless mount adaptors
Modified VQ35DE engine brackets
All bolts/nuts/washers/shims needed
VQ35 bellhousing to swap onto your Spec V trans
Axle bracket/adaptor to use your Spec V axles
All seals, pivot ball installed in bellhousing
CD with install pics, instructions, diagrams
(Optional) Solid front mount

Bolt-in VQ35/VQ30 into your Spec V. The ONLY modification that you have to do.. is grind about 3/8" off of the post on your rear engine mount for clearance, and drill out your front engine mount to 1/2" to accomodate the larger/stronger 1/2" bolt that I use in the kit. You can still use your rear motor mount inserts if you shave them down to fit in the Maxima Bracket. The front inserts COULD be use, but you will need a large diameter washer to put behind the bolt to hold them in place. I am going to offer a solid front mount if you guys want it. This will eliminate ANY wheelhop, and there is very, very little noticeable vibration from using it. If you make the front mount solid, you can leave the rear mount stock. During testing, on slicks, I experienced almost zero wheelhop using this method. If you want a solid mount, you may buy the mount from me, or send your mount into be modified for a small fee.

There is one problem that I am having right now. The VQ bellhousings are on backorder. I got the LAST one from Nissan for this kit. I have 5 on order, but I'm not sure when they will be coming in. Nissan has not given any release date as of yesterday. You CAN buy a VQ 6spd trans from a 6spd Maxima. It MUST be the LSD transmission.. otherwise, the axle bracket will NOT work.

I am not allowed to post pricing on this board.. if you want more info, please check out TheVBoard for that, or PM me privately. But, please feel free to post technical questions in this thread, and I'll do my best to answer them in a timely manner. Thanks.

Travis

Nice work Trav, very impressive. So this takes care of the mechanical part of the swap.

However, this swap kit is not complete, what about the electrical? I remember you mentioning that the wiring was a complete PITA. Are you going to be providing a wiring harness along with this kit?

The Altima has it's ECCS relay, and Accel pedal relay+wires going into the car, on the driver's side in a fuse/relay box.. The Spec V has it's relays/harness behind the glove box.. Needless to say, all the wires are the wrong colors.. so, I am having to disect each harness and trace the route of each wire. After several ibuprofen, and almost an entire day.. I THINK I have it sorted out. Now, it'll just take me another entire day of cutting and soldering to get it to work. What a pain..

Yes, this kit takes care of the mechanical end of the swap.. You are responsible for your own wiring/ECU options. It's simply too time consuming for me to offer a cost/effective sollution for you guys. I don't have the time, and most people don't have the money for me to do it. Also, it's much easier to "build" the wiring harness onto the car with the engine in. You have to use parts of your QR harness as well as the VQ harness. I WILL, however, provide diagrams, free of charge, upon request. And tech support for wiring, within reason..

Cool, thanks for clarifying. Anything else? So, other than the actual VQ engine, you need:

1. Mechanical Swap Kit (pictured in this thread)
2. Wiring harness
3. Intake/Exhaust piping???
4. Belts/Hoses???
5. ???

This shouldn't cost you more then $5k. There are plenty of VQ's in the US - you lucky bastards have so many to choose from, unlike here in Canada were there is only a small handful.

On a serious note, excellent work here Travis. Now we can longer flame n00bs when they ask if they can put a Maxima engine in their Sentra
