tony22r's - 2002 Sentra GXE 1.8L (QG18DE) 5-speed
==MODS==
* Ghetto Airbox * Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Pulley from Greg V @ Mossy Performance * EGR Removed, except for that part that plugs into harness (to avoid safe mode). * Weight Reduction: 249 lbs Gutted interior, among other things.. Inspired by fluid1mobile. It's ugly, but it's a lot quicker now. Wondering how something comes apart or is held together in your b15? Ask me.. chances are I've probably taken it off ! * Bypassed Coolant to Throttle Body * Gutted Pre Cats in Stock Exhaust Manifold * Gutted Main Catalytic Converter * Knock Sensor Relocated & grounded * Pacesetter Short Shifter #01-0422 from mach1car.com. $69.95 + free shipping. Install? All I can say is after this you'll be Intimately familiar with the underside of your Sentra! Read the excellent write-up by 1SentraNotEnuff, has great pics. * generic Straight-Through muffler; 5.5" round canister x 14" long, single slash cut tip. kept factory resonator (previously I tried gutting the stock muffler; that was a big mess, and was still restrictive as hell) * Red Line MT-90 gear oil - really smooths out the 5-speed, but still not as slick as a civic or miata tranny. ==MISCELLANEOUS== * Borbet Type B 15"x7" wheels + Yokohama Avid T4 195/50-TR15 tires * Momo Monte Carlo 320mm leather steering wheel + Hub Adapter #3514 from www.ltbmotorsports.com. Tip for removing airbag... Torx #30 Tamper Resistant (hole in the middle)... or Dremel cutoff wheel like i did.. * PCV Oil Catch (gurov's DIY ~$20 catchcan) But plan to bypass PCV completely to eliminate blowby into intake @ WOT .. by using bigger catch can & blocking off PCV to intake. * Removed Air Conditioning. This is moot now, but much prior to removing AC, I Disabled Automatic AC on Defroster * Trimmed Throttle Cables ==TO-DO / WISH LIST== * -DONE- phenolic Spacers for intake manifold & throttle body? I've heard of some nice gains on other vehicle makes. Also an excuse to take the intake manifold off so I can port it. (installed Outlaw Engineering Thermoblock spacers, port-matched intake manifolds) * Lightweight Flywheel & HD Clutch - gonna try to do this first so don't have to take apart exhaust twice later. Anybody got links to good Write-ups on replacing flywheel & clutch on a QG18 ? * Header - probably HotShot + a couple of O2 sims to keep codes away. * CAMS!!! + Springs, Retainers, etc... - Come on JWT!! (sign Petition here).. make Cams for our QG18DE and we will BUY them! * LIGHTER rims - my stock 14" steelies with 185/65-14 tires only weighed in at 30 lbs! I want 15" rims & 50 series tires that are LIGHTER than That! (4/114.3mm bolt pattern, 66.1mm hub bore) Check out www.wheelweights.net for the scoop on Light Weight rims. * relocate Battery to trunk - are Optima batteries worth it? I guess that would eliminate a plastic box and having to vent it. * Carbon Fiber Hood - Who makes good CF Hood kits w/ complete hardware for the QG18? Priorities to me are good Fit and easy Installation. Any owner reviews/suggestions would be appreciated. * OBDII code reader - probably Actron, $150 at Autozone. It'd be nice to be able to read/erase codes without bumming a reader from Autozone every week, which is how often my EGR Block-Off throws codes. Are there any affordable "Consult II" ones? I've heard an '02 QG owner advance his timing at a dealership with a Consult. * Exhaust - hmm.. prolly a full Stromung system, and replace main catalyic converter with downpipe. * Suspension - I wanna lower it, so prolly Tein coilovers with adjustable height. Beefier front Stabilizer Bar. Does anyone make a REAR stabilizer bar for the QG18? And put in aftermarket bushings. * Strut Tower Braces - front & rear. Does anyone make Rear Strut Braces for the QG18? If not, I'll have to fabricate one. * more Weight Reduction - if my car can run without it... it's comin OFF! There's still a lot more stuff to go! * maybe a chin spoiler on the front like on 350Z. maybe a wing on the back - something different, maybe low Nascar-style like on Chev Monte Carlo SS * pass Calif Smog Check in Oct 2008? I'll be keeping my oem stuff in case I can't find a smog tech I can bribe. ==SPECS== * Top Speed: 122mph @ ~5750rpm 5th gear (~55 deg F. Elevation=3000ft. Apple Valley, CA 92307) * Dyno: N/A * Curb Weight: 2355 lbs (estimated) ==FAVORITE LINKS== * Forums http://www.b15sentra.net http://www.nissanforums.com http://forums.thevboard.com http://www.gtasentra.net/board http://www.southern-shift.com/forums * QG18DE Stuff (What does qg18de mean?) http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/...rojectqg18.php ..Project QG18DE, some good mods & pics http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/projects/qg18de.php ..QG18 Turbo http://www.sentra.net http://www.nissanusa.com * How-To's and Tutorials http://forums.thevboard.com/viewforum.php?f=47 ..3 pages of Great How-To's! http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/tech_details.asp ..some good .PDF Tech How-To's http://www.southern-shift.com/manual.htm ..B15 Factory Shop Manual in .PDF format http://www.gtasentra.net/howto.html ..some good stuff www.wheelweights.net ..good list of wheels and their weights * Vendors http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=65 ..Mossy Performance Forum http://www.mossyperformance.com/main ..Mossy Performance Website www.tirerack.com ..good place to get tires, some wheels www.ltbmotorsports.com ..good selection of Momo/Sparco steering wheels, hub adapters http://www.ptuning.com/html/discount...id=ptspecplace ..code gives 5% discount =================== Happy tuning, ride safe... -tony22r

is this a joke? it's written like a 12 year old boy's diary and there are no pictures.
anyone who contributes winning a race to a 'ghetto' air box and a UR pulley and lists 'no hubcaps' as a mod has some issues.

just a few comments (welcome and happy searching!)...
* header - hotshot is used by plenty, I believe one or two other companies make a header for the qg18de, but I could be wrong. * carbon fiber hood - Everything I have heard has me leaning towards a VIS OEM CF hood (pm Blazetiger and be patient, he should be able to hook you up. * your wheel bolt pattern is 4x114.3 (see faq on this site). * OBDII code reader - worth it if you like to troubleshoot on your own, but you can get everything from a little box that spits out the code number to full-on data logging capabilities. A little research should tell you what suits your needs and wallet. * short shifter - take a look around, personally I don't have one, but some of the site sponsors will have some for sale, and searching this forum should turn up what others here have used. * exhaust - take your time...this one is mostly about quieting the sound of your header (when you get one). Several companies make decent catbacks, or you could do fine with custom 2.25" piping and a high-flow muffler (search around for resonator and muffler recommendations. * suspension - springs and dampers from a spec bolt right in, as do the sway bars...but if you are going to spend the money, might want to do a little research and step up to something AFM. If you really want the spec springs/dampers, this guy has them for sale for $100: http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=102272 * strut tower braces - several companies make a front upper strut tower bar, none for the rear. Nismo and one guy out of his garage both make lower bars that tie the control arms together.

Header: Get a Hotshot. Weapon R also makes a header but it was actually designed for the GA16DE engine on the old Sentra (read: pre-B-15). Wheels: Get some lightweight wheels (probably Speedline, Team Dynamics, OZ Racing, etc), it's just personal preference really. As always research weight on each type and don't just go by word of mouth. If you're planning on brake upgrades in the future get at least a +2 increase (meaning 16 inch wheels). Short Shifter: The ones made for the B14 SR20DE work on the QG18DE, including Pacesetter, B&M, etc. Also get some Energy Suspension shifter stabilizer bushings while you're at it (they cost less than $20.00). Ported Throttle Body: haven't seen anyone do it on their QG here but you can PM Garland and he'll get a 55-66mm port done for you at $30.00. Exhaust: Get a bolt on cat-back for a B-15 SE or have one custom made. Don't go over 2.0-2 1/4 tubing becuase you'll lose power down low and get a big resonator with oval entry/exit. Suspension: Go with Teins damper/springs combo, Eibach Sportline/Koni Yellow shocks, Nismo, etc. Stick with the name brands don't buy any "ricer" crap and you should be ok. Just don't stick lowering springs or sleeve coilovers on your stock dampers as it will shorten their life. A good way to get the correct setup is to either ride in a B-15 near you with some combo on, or read up on people's experiences here. Strut Tower: same as advice on suspension. Many brands, many opinions, just search.

We just bought a house, budget's pretty tight so for now I'm doing whatever's "Free" or cheap. On a side note, are you close to Indianapolis, Indiana ? There's a company out there http://www.outlawengineering.com/index.html that make "intake spacers" looking for test cars for R&D. I hear incentive is a free set of intake & TB spacers if they use your car. I came across this by accident on a VW forum discussing "phenolic spacers reducing heat soak to intake manifolds"... Happy tuning, ride safe, -tony22r
