I was under the assumption that the vq30 had the stronger small block (those weak arse emissions friendly pistons were probably in the vq35).

The VQ30DE shares parts with a cousin overseas (VQ30DET). The DET has stronger pistons/rods/crank which will drop right into the VQ30DE block.. This is what we've done with this engine.. It should handle 450-500whp without any fuss.

The VQ35 internals will hold up to around 400whp reliably.. but, the bottom end is much weaker than the VQ30, and the pistons won't tollerate any detonation.

When i had my 3.0, be sure to get a 2000 VI manifold from the 2000-2001 Maximas, makes a huge difference in performance.

I have one.. but, I'm running side feed injectors, so, it doesn't bolt to the VQ30 lower. I was told that you can redrill the lower and make it work..

All I have to say is keep up the insanely experimental work Trav. That sentra looks to be a beast after it's all said and done.

Hey Trav, just a thought.......I've got a 2000 VQ30DE(K) engine and I need the plastic intake manifold. These are hard to find in my area. Do you have one to sell or do you know where i could find one. I've checked the j-yards and the net but had no luck. And what's the difference between the two manifolds? Thanks for your help and congrats on your project.

What ever happened to this project? Did Scotty finally get to drive it? Did he even see it again? Interested in what happened to this potential monster....

The car has been finished and in his hand for several months.. I haven't talked to him in a while, but, it runs great from the few times that I've talked to him. He had a few issues with some trash in his fuel tank, but, that's about it.
