can qr25de motor and tranny last 150k miles?

I am in the process of deciding whether or not to purchase a well maintained 2002 spec V. Can I get some feedback about how long these engines can last if nismo header installed and butterfly screws locktited and driven very easy.
Thanks...Is expecting both transmission and motor to last to 150k miles reasonable with synthetics and gentle driving.

Anything's possible....

However, there's a lot more likelihood of the early QR's offing themselves than with 99% of other engines. Well maintained or not, I'd pass. Plenty of other, much, much better vehicles out there.

What kind of trailer would it be towed on?

Just kidding man. I have a 2002 SE-R 5 speed with 130,000+ miles. If i were looking at a high-mileage 02, i would want an oil analysis & mechanic's inspection & a carfax-type report of crash history.

LOL. well rest assured fellas I would spend an extra thousand covering entire drive train for 36,000 miles in the hopes that engine or tranny goes and I could get a 04+ put in ya know? What you think about that?

Sounds like a lot more trouble than it's worth....

Would you marry a chick if you knew there was a 75% chance she had the AIDS? If not, why would you buy an 02 Spec?

You forgot the part that if he finds out she has AIDS within a good amount of time, he can just get a new wife and be clean of the disease. Lol.

That sounds like a well-planned decision. Personally though, i would still get an oil analysis; it's cheap, fairly quick, and will let you know if there has been any oil contamination by antifreeze or excessive wear metals.

I have really enjoyed my SE-R.

You're obviously dead set on getting the car, so just go get it. If the fact that they have a ridiculously high repair rate (most of which are "catastrophic" failures) doesn't make you look elsewhere, nothing else will.

Enjoy your automotive AIDS.

Also, just a hint...if you come to a forum about a specific car and everyone (who owns or has owned one) warns or cautions you against it, maybe there's something to it.

don't worry, I will not be buying the car if no one has anything positive to say about it. I am not looking at a E36 sedan.

It already has a header & stuck butterflies, so two of three fairly-likely potential problems have been eliminated. All he really has to worry about is the HGasket leak.

Just wondering. Did the person selling the car tell you that it was driven very gently?

Just buy an '04+. I'm at 108k on my '05 and haven't had any motor problems whatsoever.
