Make sure you do all your remotes at the same time, ...and if a Nissan dealer asks for payment to program a fob, go somewhere else. Programming keys a different story since they require special equipment. My shop charges half hour for keys, 0 for remotes.

2000 Nissan Altima ignition key programing

Ken,

You said that the ignition keys need to be programmed at the dealership. Is there any way other to program them?

06 Sentra SE - how can I tell if I can use a remote?

I bought my 06 Sentra used, and really want a remote. I have the complete power package. How can I tell if I can use a remote for keyless entry? It really sucks, I work for Nissan and unless its a vehicle we build it turns into a real circle jerk to try and find out anything on my Sentra.

Just call me Mike

You need to reprogram your car so that it erases the existing remote entries. The car itself is what is programmable, not the remote.

Yep it'll work. I bought mine from Ebay (cheapest I could find) and it worked. I was told that the trunk button might not work with my '06 Sentra but it does.

I am trying to program my mom's 2005 Sentra, and not having any luck. After the signal blinks twice the first time, I press the lock button and nothing happens.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Did you turn the key to the ACC position after the blink?

I did turn the key to ACC, but not sure how to check the batteries. Should I just replace them? Is the fob easy to pry open?

My mom bought it like this from the dealer in '07. They said they would fix the remote, but they never did....

it's a cheap enough thing to check - there should be a slot on one of the sides of the remote that you can put a coin into and twist to open the remote up (do this slowly so that you don't end up with pieces all over), and you should be able to get the battery size off of the battery itself, or stamped onto the back of the remote. For me locally, I have bought replacement batteries at Wal-Mart and Walgreens, but any store with a decent selection of watch and hearing aid batteries should have what you need.
