Perhaps its because you are focusing on the wrong voices or you aren't listening to what they are saying. I haven't heard too many calls for all guns to be confiscated. I do think its a reasonable middle ground to say that all sales, including private should go through a background check system and that you don't need high-capacity, semi-automatic guns for hunting and protection any more than you'd need grenades and rocket launchers for the same.

I really shy away from people on the extreme Right or Left when I read history. I can't stand Sean Hannity, Glen Beck and in many ways Rush Limbaugh. Although Rush does come up with some good information. I read"The Great Depression" by McElvine. His pretty much of a Liberal but He did a good job on the Book. I learned a lot. Same with Michael Beschloss who wrote "The Conquerors".

And ultimately you have to decide on your own because authors' biasses may be subtle. but the "Bill of Rights Primer" is the best book on the subject that a normal person can understand. And coupled what else I know...the framers feared Federal Power" They mentioned "A More Perfect Union" bc the Articles of Confederation were a total Bust. Anything was more perfect than it.

Probably most of the Framers were in the end unhappy with the U.S. Constitution. Some thought the Bill of Rights unnecessary bc they were implied. And some felt they were necessary and some felt they gave too many rights to the States or the people. But they are all "Freedoms" including the 2nd. And that's why its so puzzeling (not really) that the gun grabers never mention it as a Right....wait...I have mentioned this before.

Well you won't "hear" it bc even gun grabbers know it would be the end of their careers. And while it may "reasonable" to say that people don't "need" hi capacity semi autos, I fail to see where it will make any difference to restrict them. Its feel good stuff only. High capacity mags have caused few of the 10,000 murders every year. And it could be argued that you will never get existing mags off the street. Enough have made it into the country in the last 4 years that it will never be a problem.

You could go into a room with a 5 round Mossburg shotgun and a couple of handguns with some extra roundfs and kill 50 people twice. But the gun grabbers and their masses can't comprehend that. And 12 Ga. 5 round shotties are here to stay.

As far a background checks..yea...no problem but that's already in place for handguns.. Go buy a handgun sometime. And good luck with the background checkl for long guns. Not saying I don't support it.

The short term solution for me is to be one more person in a crowd that can take out one of these guys. And if you think its a problem you will have to take your own action..or don't.

Some states..notably the most important (Pa.) went out of their way not to tie this Right into the Militia.
It doesn't take a genius to see it. But activist Liberal Courts will always play their game.
