Header question.
I own 02 specV for 4 years. When I bought it it had aftermarket header installed without cat. Now it seems like there is a hole in this header, so Im thinking about buying some new one. I've been looking around and noticed that there is two types on headers 4-1 or 4-2-1. I will probably go with 4-2-1, but I noticed that new headers have 1st & 4th cylinder connected separate from 2nd & 3rd. I read that its have something to do with cylinders fireing.
I also noticed that my header, the one which is in the car now, have 1st and 2nd connected and separate from 3rd and 4th in pair. Whats the difference, what is the recommended setting? Which header do you guys recommend. Thank you |

the recommended header is 4-1, which also bolts up to your current midpipe, see the nismo headers. the 4-2-1 headers just acquire a different sound, and you will need the midpipe for that header to boltup to your catback. it doesnt really matter too much for a na car which cylinders are piped together, its just a different sound, either way you look at it, they all combine together before the catback. the cylinder should be firing inner and outer, you can look at the firing order in the fsm.
